Eternal Life

The Ultimate Goal of Salvation

What Is Eternal Life?

Eternal life is the fulfillment of God’s plan for humanity.

God created us not only for this world, but for everlasting communion with Him.

Eternal life is more than endless existence. It is sharing forever in the life, love, and joy of the Blessed Trinity.

“Now this is eternal life: That they may know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” — John 17:3

Eternal Life Begins Now

Eternal life is not something that begins only after death.

Through grace, believers begin sharing in God’s life even now.

Every act of faith, prayer, worship, and holiness is a participation in the divine life that will one day be experienced in its fullness.

The Christian life is the beginning of an eternal relationship with God.

Heaven: Perfect Communion with God

Heaven is the ultimate fulfillment of human existence.

In Heaven, the blessed see God face to face in what the Church calls the Beatific Vision.

Every longing of the human heart finds its fulfillment in God.

There is no sin, suffering, death, fear, or separation from God in Heaven.

The saints live forever in perfect love and joy with God.

The Resurrection of the Body

Christianity does not teach that salvation is only for the soul.

At the end of time, Christ will raise the dead and reunite soul and body.

Just as Jesus rose bodily from the dead, believers will also share in the resurrection.

Our resurrected bodies will be glorified and free from corruption and death.

“I believe in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.” — Apostles’ Creed

The New Creation

God will not abandon His creation.

Sacred Scripture teaches that God will bring forth a new heaven and a new earth.

All creation will share in the victory of Christ over sin and death.

God’s plan is not destruction, but renewal and restoration.

The entire universe will ultimately reflect His glory.

Eternal Life Is a Gift of Grace

Eternal life cannot be earned by human effort alone.

It is a gift made possible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

God invites every person to receive His grace, follow Christ, and persevere in faith.

Salvation is God’s gift, received through faith and lived out in love.
