Jesus Christ

True God and True Man, Savior of the World

Who Is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man for our salvation.

He is true God and true man: one Divine Person with both a divine nature and a human nature.

Christians believe that Jesus is not merely a prophet, teacher, or moral example. He is the Lord and Savior of the world.

“Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God.” — Matthew 16:16

Jesus Is True God

Jesus is the eternal Word of God, begotten of the Father before all ages.

He is not a created being. He is fully divine, equal to the Father and the Holy Ghost.

Through Him all things were made, and in Him the fullness of God is revealed.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1

Jesus Is True Man

Jesus truly became human.

He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a real human life, experienced hunger, sorrow, suffering, and death.

Because He is truly man, He can represent us. Because He is truly God, He can save us.

The Incarnation

The Incarnation is the mystery that the Son of God became man.

In Jesus Christ, God entered human history to redeem humanity from sin and death.

The Word became flesh without ceasing to be God.

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” — John 1:14

The Passion

Jesus suffered and died on the Cross for our sins.

His Passion reveals both the seriousness of sin and the depth of God’s love.

By His sacrifice, Christ reconciled humanity to the Father and opened the way to salvation.

The Resurrection

On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead.

The Resurrection is the victory of Christ over sin, Satan, and death.

It is the foundation of Christian faith and the promise of our own future resurrection.

“He is risen, he is not here.” — Mark 16:6

The Ascension

After His Resurrection, Jesus ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

From Heaven, Christ intercedes for us and reigns as Lord.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.

Why Jesus Matters

Jesus Christ is the center of the Catholic faith.

In Him, God reveals Himself fully. Through Him, sins are forgiven. By Him, eternal life is offered.

Christianity is not first about an idea, system, or philosophy. It is about Jesus Christ, the living Son of God.
