Jesus Was a Real Historical Person

Jesus of Nazareth was not a myth or fictional character. He lived in first-century Judea during the Roman Empire and was crucified under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate.

His life, ministry, death, and followers are recorded in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Ancient writers outside the New Testament also refer to Jesus and the early Christian movement.

The decisive question is therefore not whether Jesus existed, but who He truly was.

More Than a Teacher

Jesus Claimed Divine Authority

Jesus taught with extraordinary authority, forgave sins, accepted worship, identified Himself with the divine name, and declared His unity with the Father.

For this reason, Christians do not merely admire Jesus as a moral teacher. They worship Him as Lord and God.

His claims force every person to make a decision. Jesus cannot be reduced to one spiritual teacher among many while ignoring what He said about Himself.

The Incarnation

The Eternal Son Became Man

The Incarnation is the mystery that the eternal Son of God entered human history and assumed a true human nature without ceasing to be God.

Jesus Christ is one Divine Person with two natures: truly God and truly man. Because He is truly human, He knows human joy, labor, temptation, suffering, friendship, grief, and death. Because He is truly God, He possesses the power to save us and bring us into communion with the Father.

He was conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. Her faithful consent welcomed the Savior into the world.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.

The Kingdom of God

Jesus Taught, Healed, Forgave, and Called Disciples

At about thirty years of age, Jesus began His public ministry. He proclaimed the Kingdom of God, called people to repentance and faith, healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, cast out demons, forgave sins, and raised the dead.

His miracles were signs of the Kingdom and revelations of His identity. They showed that in Jesus, God had entered the wounded condition of humanity to confront sin, suffering, evil, and death.

Jesus also chose twelve Apostles, formed them personally, and entrusted them with continuing His mission.

Cross and Resurrection

Jesus Died for Our Salvation and Rose Again

Humanity was created for friendship with God, but sin wounded that communion. Jesus willingly offered Himself on the Cross to save us from sin and reconcile us to the Father.

His death was not a failure. It was the perfect act of love and obedience through which Christ opened the way to forgiveness and eternal life.

On the third day, Jesus rose bodily from the dead. The Resurrection confirms His identity, reveals His victory over sin and death, and gives Christians hope in everlasting life.

And if Christ be not risen again, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Jesus Reigns and Continues His Mission

After His Resurrection, Jesus ascended into Heaven and reigns at the right hand of the Father. He is alive today, intercedes for His people, and will come again in glory.

Before ascending, He established His Church and commanded the Apostles to teach all nations, baptize, and make disciples.

Through His Church, Christ continues to teach, sanctify, forgive, nourish, and guide His people.

Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
