Devotion to the Precious Blood directs the heart to the price of redemption and the Eucharistic gift of Christ. It should deepen gratitude, repentance, reverence, and mercy.
The Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, You loved us and washed us from our sins by Your Blood. I adore Your saving love poured out upon the Cross and given sacramentally in the Eucharist.
Cleanse my conscience, heal the harm caused by sin, and strengthen me to live as one redeemed. Have mercy on the Church, the suffering, the dying, and all who do not yet know Your love.
May remembrance of Your Precious Blood make me grateful rather than afraid, merciful rather than condemning, and ready to give myself in love. Amen.
Important Catholic Boundary
The Precious Blood is not a magical substance to be deployed through improvised formulas. Catholic devotion contemplates Christ’s one saving sacrifice and leads toward the Eucharist, repentance, charity, and hope.
The Paschal Mystery at the Center
The Blood of Christ cannot be separated from the Person of Christ or from His death and Resurrection. The devotion is shorthand for the total self-gift by which the incarnate Son reconciles humanity to the Father.
At Mass, the Church receives the sacramental memorial of that one sacrifice; private devotion should increase reverent participation in the liturgy.

- Sorrow for sin without despair.
- Reverence for the Eucharist.
- Mercy toward sinners and the suffering.
- Courage to offer one’s own sacrifices in union with Christ.
