The Prayer
We fly to thy protection, O holy Mother of God. Despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
Important Catholic Boundary
The prayer asks Mary to assist through her intercession. Divine power belongs to God alone, and every authentic Marian devotion draws the disciple more deeply into faith and obedience to Christ.
A Short Prayer for Real Need
Its brevity makes this prayer useful when a person is anxious, traveling, facing conflict, or unable to sustain longer prayer. It can also conclude family intercessions.
To fly to Mary’s protection is to bring need into the communion of saints instead of carrying it in isolation.
