Psalms 84

Unto the end, for the sons of Core, a psalm.

In finem, filiis Core. Psalmus.

εἰς τὸ τέλος τοῖς υἱοῖς Κορε ψαλμός

Lord, thou hast blessed thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.

Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam; avertisti captivitatem Jacob.

εὐδόκησας κύριε τὴν γῆν σου ἀπέστρεψας τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν Ιακωβ

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered all their sins.

Remisisti iniquitatem plebis tuæ; operuisti omnia peccata eorum.

ἀφῆκας τὰς ἀνομίας τῷ λαῷ σου ἐκάλυψας πάσας τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν διάψαλμα

Thou hast mitigated all thy anger: thou hast turned away from the wrath of thy indignation.

Mitigasti omnem iram tuam; avertisti ab ira indignationis tuæ.

κατέπαυσας πᾶσαν τὴν ὀργήν σου ἀπέστρεψας ἀπὸ ὀργῆς θυμοῦ σου

Convert us, O God our saviour: and turn off thy anger from us.

Converte nos, Deus salutaris noster, et averte iram tuam a nobis.

ἐπίστρεψον ἡμᾶς ὁ θεὸς τῶν σωτηρίων ἡμῶν καὶ ἀπόστρεψον τὸν θυμόν σου ἀφ' ἡμῶν

Wilt thou be angry with us for ever: or wilt thou extend thy wrath from generation to generation?

Numquid in æternum irasceris nobis? aut extendes iram tuam a generatione in generationem?

μὴ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ὀργισθήσῃ ἡμῖν ἢ διατενεῖς τὴν ὀργήν σου ἀπὸ γενεᾶς εἰς γενεάν

Thou wilt turn, O God, and bring us to life: and thy people shall rejoice in thee.

Deus, tu conversus vivificabis nos, et plebs tua lætabitur in te.

ὁ θεός σὺ ἐπιστρέψας ζωώσεις ἡμᾶς καὶ ὁ λαός σου εὐφρανθήσεται ἐπὶ σοί

Show us, O Lord, thy mercy; and grant us thy salvation.

Ostende nobis, Domine, misericordiam tuam, et salutare tuum da nobis.

δεῖξον ἡμῖν κύριε τὸ ἔλεός σου καὶ τὸ σωτήριόν σου δῴης ἡμῖν

I will hear what the Lord God will speak in me: for he will speak peace unto his people: And unto his saints: and unto them that are converted to the heart.

Audiam quid loquatur in me Dominus Deus, quoniam loquetur pacem in plebem suam, et super sanctos suos, et in eos qui convertuntur ad cor.

ἀκούσομαι τί λαλήσει ἐν ἐμοὶ κύριος ὁ θεός ὅτι λαλήσει εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ὁσίους αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐπιστρέφοντας πρὸς αὐτὸν καρδίαν

Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.

Verumtamen prope timentes eum salutare ipsius, ut inhabitet gloria in terra nostra.

πλὴν ἐγγὺς τῶν φοβουμένων αὐτὸν τὸ σωτήριον αὐτοῦ τοῦ κατασκηνῶσαι δόξαν ἐν τῇ γῇ ἡμῶν

Mercy and truth have met each other: justice and peace have kissed.

Misericordia et veritas obviaverunt sibi; justitia et pax osculatæ sunt.

ἔλεος καὶ ἀλήθεια συνήντησαν δικαιοσύνη καὶ εἰρήνη κατεφίλησαν

Truth is sprung out of the earth: and justice hath looked down from heaven.

Veritas de terra orta est, et justitia de cælo prospexit.

ἀλήθεια ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἀνέτειλεν καὶ δικαιοσύνη ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ διέκυψεν

For the Lord will give goodness: and our earth shall yield her fruit.

Etenim Dominus dabit benignitatem, et terra nostra dabit fructum suum.

καὶ γὰρ ὁ κύριος δώσει χρηστότητα καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν δώσει τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς

Justice shall walk before him: and shall set his steps in the way.

Justitia ante eum ambulabit, et ponet in via gressus suos.

δικαιοσύνη ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ προπορεύσεται καὶ θήσει εἰς ὁδὸν τὰ διαβήματα αὐτοῦ
