Proverbs 11

1A deceitful balance is an abomination before the Lord: and a just weight is his will.

2Where pride is, there also shall be reproach: but where humility is, there also is wisdom.

3The simplicity of the just shall guide them: and the deceitfulness of the wicked shall destroy them.

4Riches shall not profit in the day of revenge: but justice shall deliver from death.

5The justice of the upright shall make his way prosperous: and the wicked man shall fall by his own wickedness.

6The justice of the righteous shall deliver them: and the unjust shall be caught in their own snares.

7When the wicked man is dead, there shall be no hope any more: and the expectation of the solicitous shall perish.

8The just is delivered out of distress: and the wicked shall be given up for him.

9The dissembler with his mouth deceiveth his friend: but the just shall be delivered by knowledge.

10When it goeth well with the just, the city shall rejoice: and when the wicked perish, there shall be praise.

11By the blessing of the just the city shall be exalted: and by the mouth of the wicked it shall be overthrown.

12He that despiseth his friend, is mean of heart: but the wise man will hold his peace.

13He that walketh deceitfully, revealeth secrets: but he that is faithful, concealeth the thing committed to him by his friend.

14Where there is no governor, the people shall fall: but there is safety where there is much counsel.

15He shall be afflicted with evil, that is surety for a stranger: but he that is aware of snares, shall be secure.

16A gracious woman shall find glory: and the strong shall have riches.

17A merciful man doth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel casteth off even his own kindred.

18The wicked maketh an unsteady work: but to him that soweth justice, there is a faithful reward.

19Clemency prepareth life: and the pursuing of evil things, death.

20A perverse heart is abominable to the Lord: and his will is in them that walk sincerely.

21Hand in hand the evil man shall not be innocent: but the seed of the just shall be saved.

22A golden ring in a swine's snout, a woman fair and foolish.

23The desire of the just is all good, the expectation of the wicked is indignation.

24Some distribute their own goods, and grow richer: others take away what is not their own, and are always in want.

25The soul that blesseth, shall be made fat: and he that inebriateth, shall be inebriated also himself.

26He that hideth up corn, shall be cursed among the people: but a blessing upon the head of them that sell.

27Well doth he rise early who seeketh good things; but he that seeketh after evil things, shall be oppressed by them.

28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the just shall spring up as a green leaf.

29He that troubleth his own house, shall inherit the winds: and the fool shall serve the wise.

30The fruit of the just man is a tree of life: and he that gaineth souls is wise.

31If the just man receive in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner.

1Statera dolosa abominatio est apud Dominum, et pondus æquum voluntas ejus.

2Ubi fuerit superbia, ibi erit et contumelia; ubi autem est humilitas, ibi et sapientia.

3Simplicitas justorum diriget eos, et supplantatio perversorum vastabit illos.

4Non proderunt divitiæ in die ultionis; justitia autem liberabit a morte.

5Justitia simplicis diriget viam ejus, et in impietate sua corruet impius.

6Justitia rectorum liberabit eos, et in insidiis suis capientur iniqui.

7Mortuo homine impio, nulla erit ultra spes, et exspectatio sollicitorum peribit.

8Justus de angustia liberatus est, et tradetur impius pro eo.

9Simulator ore decipit amicum suum; justi autem liberabuntur scientia.

10In bonis justorum exsultabit civitas, et in perditione impiorum erit laudatio.

11Benedictione justorum exaltabitur civitas, et ore impiorum subvertetur.

12Qui despicit amicum suum indigens corde est; vir autem prudens tacebit.

13Qui ambulat fraudulenter, revelat arcana; qui autem fidelis est animi, celat amici commissum.

14Ubi non est gubernator, populus corruet; salus autem, ubi multa consilia.

15Affligetur malo qui fidem facit pro extraneo; qui autem cavet laqueos securus erit.

16Mulier gratiosa inveniet gloriam, et robusti habebunt divitias.

17Benefacit animæ suæ vir misericors; qui autem crudelis est, etiam propinquos abjicit.

18Impius facit opus instabile, seminanti autem justitiam merces fidelis.

19Clementia præparat vitam, et sectatio malorum mortem.

20Abominabile Domino cor pravum, et voluntas ejus in iis qui simpliciter ambulant.

21Manus in manu non erit innocens malus; semen autem justorum salvabitur.

22Circulus aureus in naribus suis, mulier pulchra et fatua.

23Desiderium justorum omne bonum est; præstolatio impiorum furor.

24Alii dividunt propria, et ditiores fiunt; alii rapiunt non sua, et semper in egestate sunt.

25Anima quæ benedicit impinguabitur, et qui inebriat, ipse quoque inebriabitur.

26Qui abscondit frumenta maledicetur in populis; benedictio autem super caput vendentium.

27Bene consurgit diluculo qui quærit bona; qui autem investigator malorum est, opprimetur ab eis.

28Qui confidit in divitiis suis corruet : justi autem quasi virens folium germinabunt.

29Qui conturbat domum suam possidebit ventos, et qui stultus est serviet sapienti.

30Fructus justi lignum vitæ, et qui suscipit animas sapiens est.

31Si justus in terra recipit, quanto magis impius et peccator!

1ζυγοὶ δόλιοι βδέλυγμα ἐνώπιον κυρίου στάθμιον δὲ δίκαιον δεκτὸν αὐτῷ

2οὗ ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ ὕβρις ἐκεῖ καὶ ἀτιμία στόμα δὲ ταπεινῶν μελετᾷ σοφίαν

3ἀποθανὼν δίκαιος ἔλιπεν μετάμελον πρόχειρος δὲ γίνεται καὶ ἐπίχαρτος ἀσεβῶν ἀπώλεια

5δικαιοσύνη ἀμώμους ὀρθοτομεῖ ὁδούς ἀσέβεια δὲ περιπίπτει ἀδικίᾳ

6δικαιοσύνη ἀνδρῶν ὀρθῶν ῥύεται αὐτούς τῇ δὲ ἀπωλείᾳ αὐτῶν ἁλίσκονται παράνομοι

7τελευτήσαντος ἀνδρὸς δικαίου οὐκ ὄλλυται ἐλπίς τὸ δὲ καύχημα τῶν ἀσεβῶν ὄλλυται

8δίκαιος ἐκ θήρας ἐκδύνει ἀντ' αὐτοῦ δὲ παραδίδοται ὁ ἀσεβής

9ἐν στόματι ἀσεβῶν παγὶς πολίταις αἴσθησις δὲ δικαίων εὔοδος

10ἐν ἀγαθοῖς δικαίων κατώρθωσεν πόλις

11στόμασιν δὲ ἀσεβῶν κατεσκάφη

12μυκτηρίζει πολίτας ἐνδεὴς φρενῶν ἀνὴρ δὲ φρόνιμος ἡσυχίαν ἄγει

13ἀνὴρ δίγλωσσος ἀποκαλύπτει βουλὰς ἐν συνεδρίῳ πιστὸς δὲ πνοῇ κρύπτει πράγματα

14οἷς μὴ ὑπάρχει κυβέρνησις πίπτουσιν ὥσπερ φύλλα σωτηρία δὲ ὑπάρχει ἐν πολλῇ βουλῇ

15πονηρὸς κακοποιεῖ ὅταν συμμείξῃ δικαίῳ μισεῖ δὲ ἦχον ἀσφαλείας

16γυνὴ εὐχάριστος ἐγείρει ἀνδρὶ δόξαν θρόνος δὲ ἀτιμίας γυνὴ μισοῦσα δίκαια πλούτου ὀκνηροὶ ἐνδεεῖς γίνονται οἱ δὲ ἀνδρεῖοι ἐρείδονται πλούτῳ

17τῇ ψυχῇ αὐτοῦ ἀγαθὸν ποιεῖ ἀνὴρ ἐλεήμων ἐξολλύει δὲ αὐτοῦ σῶμα ὁ ἀνελεήμων

18ἀσεβὴς ποιεῖ ἔργα ἄδικα σπέρμα δὲ δικαίων μισθὸς ἀληθείας

19υἱὸς δίκαιος γεννᾶται εἰς ζωήν διωγμὸς δὲ ἀσεβοῦς εἰς θάνατον

20βδέλυγμα κυρίῳ διεστραμμέναι ὁδοί προσδεκτοὶ δὲ αὐτῷ πάντες ἄμωμοι ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν

21χειρὶ χεῖρας ἐμβαλὼν ἀδίκως οὐκ ἀτιμώρητος ἔσται ὁ δὲ σπείρων δικαιοσύνην λήμψεται μισθὸν πιστόν

22ὥσπερ ἐνώτιον ἐν ῥινὶ ὑός οὕτως γυναικὶ κακόφρονι κάλλος

23ἐπιθυμία δικαίων πᾶσα ἀγαθή ἐλπὶς δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἀπολεῖται

24εἰσὶν οἳ τὰ ἴδια σπείροντες πλείονα ποιοῦσιν εἰσὶν καὶ οἳ συνάγοντες ἐλαττονοῦνται

25ψυχὴ εὐλογουμένη πᾶσα ἁπλῆ ἀνὴρ δὲ θυμώδης οὐκ εὐσχήμων

26ὁ συνέχων σῖτον ὑπολίποιτο αὐτὸν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐλογία δὲ εἰς κεφαλὴν τοῦ μεταδιδόντος

27τεκταινόμενος ἀγαθὰ ζητεῖ χάριν ἀγαθήν ἐκζητοῦντα δὲ κακά καταλήμψεται αὐτόν

28ὁ πεποιθὼς ἐπὶ πλούτῳ οὗτος πεσεῖται ὁ δὲ ἀντιλαμβανόμενος δικαίων οὗτος ἀνατελεῖ

29ὁ μὴ συμπεριφερόμενος τῷ ἑαυτοῦ οἴκῳ κληρονομήσει ἄνεμον δουλεύσει δὲ ἄφρων φρονίμῳ

30ἐκ καρποῦ δικαιοσύνης φύεται δένδρον ζωῆς ἀφαιροῦνται δὲ ἄωροι ψυχαὶ παρανόμων

31εἰ ὁ μὲν δίκαιος μόλις σῴζεται ὁ ἀσεβὴς καὶ ἁμαρτωλὸς ποῦ φανεῖται
