Nehemiah 12

1Now these are the priests and the Levites, that went up with Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Josue: Saraia, Jeremiah, Esdras,

2Amaria, Melluch, Hattus,

3Sebenias, Rheum, Merimuth,

4Addo, Genthon, Abia,

5Miamin, Madia, Belga,

6Semeia, and Joiarib, Idaia, Sellum Amoc, Helcias,

7Idaia. These were the chief of the priests, and of their brethren in the days of Josue.

8And the Levites, Jesua, Bennui, Cedmihel, Sarebia, Juda, Mathanias, they and their brethren were over the hymns:

9And Becbecia, and Hanni, and their brethren every one in his office.

10And Josue begot Joacim, and Joacim begot Eliasib, and Eliasib begot Joiada,

11And Joiada begot Jonathan and Jonathan begot Jeddoa.

12And in the days of Joacim the priests and heads of the families were: Of Saraia, Maraia: of Jeremiah, Hanania:

13Of Esdras, Mosollam: and of Amaria, Johanan:

14Of Milicho, Jonathan: of Sebenia, Joseph:

15Of Haram, Edna: of Maraioth, Helci:

16Of Adaia, Zacharia: of Genthon, Mosollam:

17Of Abia, Zechri: of Miamin and Moadia, Phelti:

18Of Belga, Sammua of Semaia, Jonathan:

19Of Joiarib, Mathanai: of Jodaia, Azzi:

20Of Sellai, Celai: of Amoc, Heber:

21Of Helcias, Hasebia: of Idaia, Nathanael.

22The Levites the chiefs of the families in the days of Eliasib, and Joiada, and Johanan, and Jeddoa, were recorded, and the priests in the reign of Darius the Persian.

23The sons of Levi, heads of the families were written in the book of Chronicles, even unto the days of Jonathan the son of Eliasib.

24Now the chief of the Levites were Hasebia, Serebia, and Josue the son of Cedmihel: and their brethren by their courses, to praise and to give thanks according to the commandment of David the man of God, and to wait equally in order.

25Mathania, and Becbecia, Obedia, and Mosollam, Telmon, Accub, were keepers of the gates and of the entrances before the gates.

26These were in the days of Joacim the son of Josue, the son of Josedec, and in the days of Nehemias the governor, and of Esdras the priest and scribe.

27And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, and to keep the dedication, and to rejoice with thanksgiving, and with singing, and with cymbals, and psalteries and harps.

28And the sons of the singing men were gathered together out of the plain country about Jerusalem, and out of the villages of Nethuphati,

29And from the house of Galgal, and from the countries of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singing men had built themselves villages round about Jerusalem.

30And the priests and the Levites were purified, and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.

31And I made the princes of Juda go up upon the wall, and I appointed two great choirs to give praise. And they went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate.

32And after them went Osaias, and half of the princes of Juda,

33And Azarias, Esdras, and Mosollam, Judas, and Benjamin, and Semeia, and Jeremiah.

34And of the sons of the priests with trumpets, Zacharias the son of Jonathan, the son of Semeia, the son of Mathania, the son of Michaia, the son of Zechur, the son of Asaph,

35And his brethren Semeia, and Azareel, Malalai, Galalai, Maai, Nathanael, and Judas, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God: and Esdras the scribe before them at the fountain gate.

36And they went up over against them by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall of the house of David, and to the water gate eastward:

37And the second choir of them that gave thanks went on the opposite side, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, and upon the tower of the furnaces, even to the broad wall,

38And above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Emath, and even to the flock gate: and they stood still in the watch gate.

39And the two choirs of them that gave praise stood still at the house of God, and I and the half of the magistrates with me.

40And the priests, Eliachim, Maasia, Miamin, Michea, Elioenai, Zacharia, Hanania with trumpets,

41And Maasia, and Semeia, and Eleazar, and Azzi, and Johanan, and Melchia, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sung loud, and Jezraia was their overseer:

42And they sacrificed on that day great sacrifices, and they rejoiced: for God had made them joyful with great joy: their wives also and their children rejoiced, and the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off.

43They appointed also in that day men over the storehouses of the treasure, for the libations, and for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, that the rulers of the city might bring them in by them in honour of thanksgiving, for the priests and Levites: for Juda was joyful in the priests and Levites that assisted.

44And they kept the watch of their God, and the observance of expiation, and the singing men, and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.

45For in the days of David and Asaph from the beginning there were chief singers appointed, to praise with canticles, and give thanks to God.

46And all Israel, in the days of Zorobabel, and in the days of Nehemias gave portions to the singing men, and to the porters, day by day, and they sanctified the Levites, and the Levites sanctified the sons of Aaron.

23Filii Levi principes familiarum, scripti in libro verborum dierum, et usque ad dies Jonathan, filii Eliasib.

24Et principes Levitarum, Hasebia, Serebia, et Josue filius Cedmihel : et fratres eorum per vices suas, ut laudarent et confiterentur juxta præceptum David viri Dei, et observarent æque per ordinem.

25Mathania, et Becbecia, Obedia, Mosollam, Telmon, Accub, custodes portarum et vestibulorum ante portas.

26Hi in diebus Joacim filii Josue, filii Josedec, et in diebus Nehemiæ ducis, et Esdræ sacerdotis scribæque.

27In dedicatione autem muri Jerusalem, requisierunt Levitas de omnibus locis suis ut adducerent eos in Jerusalem, et facerent dedicationem et lætitiam in actione gratiarum, et cantico, et in cymbalis, psalteriis, et citharis.

28Congregati sunt autem filii cantorum de campestribus circa Jerusalem, et de villis Nethuphathi,

29et de domo Galgal, et de regionibus Geba et Azmaveth : quoniam villas ædificaverunt sibi cantores in circuitu Jerusalem.

30Et mundati sunt sacerdotes et Levitæ, et mundaverunt populum, et portas, et murum.

31Ascendere autem feci principes Juda super murum, et statui duos magnos choros laudantium. Et ierunt ad dexteram super murum ad portam sterquilinii.

32Et ivit post eos Osaias, et media pars principum Juda,

33et Azarias, Esdras, et Mosollam,

34Judas, et Benjamin, et Semeia, et Jeremias.

35Et de filiis sacerdotum in tubis, Zacharias filius Jonathan, filius Semeiæ, filius Mathaniæ, filius Michaiæ, filius Zechur, filius Asaph,

36et fratres ejus Semeia, et Azareel, Malalai, Galalai, Maai, Nathanaël, et Judas, et Hanani, in vasis cantici David viri Dei : et Esdras scriba ante eos in porta fontis.

37Et contra eos ascenderunt in gradibus civitatis David in ascensu muri super domum David, et usque ad portam aquarum ad orientem.

38Et chorus secundus gratias referentium ibat ex adverso, et ego post eum, et media pars populi super murum, et super turrim furnorum, et usque ad murum latissimum,

39et super portam Ephraim, et super portam antiquam, et super portam piscium et turrim Hananeel, et turrim Emath, et usque ad portam gregis : et steterunt in porta custodiæ,

40steteruntque duo chori laudantium in domo Dei, et ego, et dimidia pars magistratuum mecum.

41Et sacerdotes, Eliachim, Maasia, Miamin, Michea, Elioënai, Zacharia, Hanania in tubis,

42et Maasia, et Semeia, et Eleazar, et Azzi, et Johanan, et Melchia, et Ælam, et Ezer. Et clare cecinerunt cantores, et Jezraia præpositus:

43et immolaverunt in die illa victimas magnas, et lætati sunt : Deus enim lætificaverat eos lætitia magna : sed et uxores eorum et liberi gavisi sunt, et audita est lætitia Jerusalem procul.

44Recensuerunt quoque in die illa viros super gazophylacia thesauri ad libamina, et ad primitias, et ad decimas, ut introferrent per eos principes civitatis in decore gratiarum actionis, sacerdotes et Levitas : quia lætificatus est Juda in sacerdotibus et Levitis adstantibus.

45Et custodierunt observationem Dei sui, et observationem expiationis, et cantores, et janitores juxta præceptum David, et Salomonis filii ejus,

46quia in diebus David et Asaph ab exordio erant principes constituti cantorum in carmine laudantium et confitentium Deo.

47Et omnis Israël in diebus Zorobabel et in diebus Nehemiæ, dabant partes cantoribus et janitoribus per dies singulos, et sanctificabant Levitas, et Levitæ sanctificabant filios Aaron.

7οὗτοι ἄρχοντες τῶν ἱερέων καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέραις Ἰησοῦ

8καὶ οἱ Λευῖται Ιησου Βανουι Καδμιηλ Σαραβια Ιουδα Μαχανια ἐπὶ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ

9εἰς τὰς ἐφημερίας

10καὶ Ἰησοῦς ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιωακιμ καὶ Ιωακιμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ελιασιβ καὶ Ελιασιβ τὸν Ιωδαε

11καὶ Ιωδαε ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιωναθαν καὶ Ιωναθαν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιαδου

12καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Ιωακιμ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῷ Σαραια Μαραια τῷ Ιερμια Ανανια

13τῷ Εσδρα Μεσουλαμ τῷ Αμαρια Ιωαναν

14τῷ Μαλουχ Ιωναθαν τῷ Σεχενια Ιωσηφ

15τῷ Αρεμ Αδνας τῷ Μαριωθ Ελκαι

16τῷ Αδδαι Ζαχαριας τῷ Γαναθων Μοσολλαμ

17τῷ Αβια Ζεχρι τῷ Βενιαμιν ἐν καιροῖς τῷ Φελητι

18τῷ Βαλγα Σαμουε τῷ Σεμεια Ιωναθαν

19τῷ Ιωιαριβ Μαθθαναι τῷ Ιδια Οζι

22οἱ Λευῖται ἐν ἡμέραις Ελιασιβ Ιωαδα καὶ Ιωαναν καὶ Ιδουα γεγραμμένοι ἄρχοντες πατριῶν καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν βασιλείᾳ Δαρείου τοῦ Πέρσου

23υἱοὶ Λευι ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν γεγραμμένοι ἐπὶ βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ ἕως ἡμερῶν Ιωαναν υἱοῦ Ελισουβ

24καὶ ἄρχοντες τῶν Λευιτῶν Ασαβια καὶ Σαραβια καὶ Ιησου καὶ υἱοὶ Καδμιηλ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν κατεναντίον αὐτῶν εἰς ὑμνεῖν καὶ αἰνεῖν ἐν ἐντολῇ Δαυιδ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ ἐφημερία πρὸς ἐφημερίαν

25ἐν τῷ συναγαγεῖν με τοὺς πυλωροὺς

26ἐν ἡμέραις Ιωακιμ υἱοῦ Ἰησοῦ υἱοῦ Ιωσεδεκ καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Νεεμια καὶ Εσδρας ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ γραμματεύς

27καὶ ἐν ἐγκαινίοις τείχους Ιερουσαλημ ἐζήτησαν τοὺς Λευίτας ἐν τοῖς τόποις αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐνέγκαι αὐτοὺς εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ποιῆσαι ἐγκαίνια καὶ εὐφροσύνην ἐν θωδαθα καὶ ἐν ᾠδαῖς κυμβαλίζοντες καὶ ψαλτήρια καὶ κινύραι

28καὶ συνήχθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ᾀδόντων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς περιχώρου κυκλόθεν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἀπὸ ἐπαύλεων

29καὶ ἀπὸ ἀγρῶν ὅτι ἐπαύλεις ᾠκοδόμησαν ἑαυτοῖς οἱ ᾄδοντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

30καὶ ἐκαθαρίσθησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται καὶ ἐκαθάρισαν τὸν λαὸν καὶ τοὺς πυλωροὺς καὶ τὸ τεῖχος

31καὶ ἀνήνεγκα τοὺς ἄρχοντας Ιουδα ἐπάνω τοῦ τείχους καὶ ἔστησα δύο περὶ αἰνέσεως μεγάλους καὶ διῆλθον ἐκ δεξιῶν ἐπάνω τοῦ τείχους τῆς κοπρίας

32καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὀπίσω αὐτῶν Ωσαια καὶ ἥμισυ ἀρχόντων Ιουδα

33καὶ Αζαριας Εσδρας καὶ Μεσουλαμ

34Ιουδα καὶ Βενιαμιν καὶ Σαμαια καὶ Ιερμια

35καὶ ἀπὸ υἱῶν τῶν ἱερέων ἐν σάλπιγξιν Ζαχαριας υἱὸς Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Σαμαια υἱὸς Μαθανια υἱὸς Μιχαια υἱὸς Ζακχουρ υἱὸς Ασαφ

36καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ Σαμαια καὶ Οζιηλ αἰνεῖν ἐν ᾠδαῖς Δαυιδ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ Εσδρας ὁ γραμματεὺς ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν

37ἐπὶ πύλης τοῦ αιν κατέναντι αὐτῶν ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ κλίμακας πόλεως Δαυιδ ἐν ἀναβάσει τοῦ τείχους ἐπάνωθεν τοῦ οἴκου Δαυιδ καὶ ἕως πύλης τοῦ ὕδατος κατὰ ἀνατολάς

38καὶ περὶ αἰνέσεως ἡ δευτέρα ἐπορεύετο συναντῶσα αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐγὼ ὀπίσω αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ τοῦ λαοῦ ἐπάνω τοῦ τείχους ὑπεράνω τοῦ πύργου τῶν θεννουριμ καὶ ἕως τοῦ τείχους τοῦ πλατέος

39καὶ ὑπεράνω τῆς πύλης Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπὶ πύλην τῆς ισανα καὶ ἐπὶ πύλην τὴν ἰχθυηρὰν καὶ πύργῳ Ανανεηλ καὶ ἕως πύλης τῆς προβατικῆς καὶ ἔστησαν ἐν πύλῃ τῆς φυλακῆς

40καὶ ἔστησαν αἱ δύο τῆς αἰνέσεως ἐν οἴκῳ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ τῶν στρατηγῶν μετ' ἐμοῦ

41καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς Ελιακιμ Μαασιας Βενιαμιν Μιχαιας Ελιωηναι Ζαχαριας Ανανιας ἐν σάλπιγξιν

42καὶ Μαασιας καὶ Σεμειας καὶ Ελεαζαρ καὶ Οζι καὶ Ιωαναν καὶ Μελχιας καὶ Αιλαμ καὶ Εζουρ καὶ ἠκούσθησαν οἱ ᾄδοντες καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν

43καὶ ἔθυσαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ θυσιάσματα μεγάλα καὶ ηὐφράνθησαν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ηὔφρανεν αὐτοὺς μεγάλως καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ηὐφράνθησαν καὶ ἠκούσθη ἡ εὐφροσύνη ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν

44καὶ κατέστησαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἄνδρας ἐπὶ τῶν γαζοφυλακίων τοῖς θησαυροῖς ταῖς ἀπαρχαῖς καὶ ταῖς δεκάταις καὶ τοῖς συνηγμένοις ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄρχουσιν τῶν πόλεων μερίδας τοῖς ἱερεῦσι καὶ τοῖς Λευίταις ὅτι εὐφροσύνη ἦν ἐν Ιουδα ἐπὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς Λευίτας τοὺς ἑστῶτας

45καὶ ἐφύλαξαν φυλακὰς θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ φυλακὰς τοῦ καθαρισμοῦ καὶ τοὺς ᾄδοντας καὶ τοὺς πυλωροὺς ὡς ἐντολαὶ Δαυιδ καὶ Σαλωμων υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ

46ὅτι ἐν ἡμέραις Δαυιδ Ασαφ ἀπ' ἀρχῆς πρῶτος τῶν ᾀδόντων καὶ ὕμνον καὶ αἴνεσιν τῷ θεῷ

47καὶ πᾶς Ισραηλ ἐν ἡμέραις Ζοροβαβελ διδόντες μερίδας τῶν ᾀδόντων καὶ τῶν πυλωρῶν λόγον ἡμέρας ἐν ἡμέρᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἁγιάζοντες τοῖς Λευίταις καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἁγιάζοντες τοῖς υἱοῖς Ααρων
