Colossians 3

Therefore if you be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.

Igitur, si consurrexistis cum Christo : quæ sursum sunt quærite, ubi Christus est in dextera Dei sedens:

Εἰ οὖν συνηγέρθητε τῷ Χριστῷ, τὰ ἄνω ζητεῖτε, οὗ ὁ Χριστός ἐστιν ἐν δεξιᾷ τοῦ θεοῦ καθήμενος:

Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth.

quæ sursum sunt sapite, non quæ super terram.

τὰ ἄνω φρονεῖτε, μὴ τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς:

For you are dead: and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Mortui enim estis, et vita vestra est abscondita cum Christo in Deo.

ἀπεθάνετε γάρ, καὶ ἡ ζωὴ ὑμῶν κέκρυπται σὺν τῷ Χριστῷ ἐν τῷ θεῷ.

When Christ shall appear, who is your life, then you also shall appear with him in glory.

Cum Christus apparuerit, vita vestra : tunc et vos apparebitis cum ipso in gloria.

ὅταν ὁ Χριστὸς φανερωθῇ, ἡ ζωὴ ἡμῶν, τότε καὶ ὑμεῖς σὺν αὐτῷ φανερωθήσεσθε ἐν δόξῃ.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is the service of idols.

Mortificate ergo membra vestra, quæ sunt super terram : fornicationem, immunditiam, libidinem, concupiscentiam malam, et avaritiam, quæ est simulacrorum servitus:

Νεκρώσατε οὖν τὰ μέλη τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, πορνείαν, ἀκαθαρσίαν, πάθος, ἐπιθυμίαν κακήν, καὶ τὴν πλεονεξίαν ἥτις ἐστὶν εἰδωλολατρία,

For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief.

propter quæ venit ira Dei super filios incredulitatis:

δι' ἃ ἔρχεται ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ:

In which you also walked some time, when you lived in them.

in quibus et vos ambulastis aliquando, cum viveretis in illis.

ἐν οἷς καὶ ὑμεῖς περιεπατήσατέ ποτε ὅτε ἐζῆτε ἐν τούτοις:

But now put you also all away: anger, indignation, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech out of your mouth.

Nunc autem deponite et vos omnia : iram, indignationem, malitiam, blasphemiam, turpem sermonem de ore vestro.

νυνὶ δὲ ἀπόθεσθε καὶ ὑμεῖς τὰ πάντα, ὀργήν, θυμόν, κακίαν, βλασφημίαν, αἰσχρολογίαν ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ὑμῶν:

Lie not one to another: stripping yourselves of the old man with his deeds,

Nolite mentiri invicem, expoliantes vos veterem hominem cum actibus suis,

μὴ ψεύδεσθε εἰς ἀλλήλους, ἀπεκδυσάμενοι τὸν παλαιὸν ἄνθρωπον σὺν ταῖς πράξεσιν αὐτοῦ,

And putting on the new, him who is renewed unto knowledge, according to the image of him that created him.

et induentes novum eum, qui renovatur in agnitionem secundum imaginem ejus qui creavit illum:

καὶ ἐνδυσάμενοι τὸν νέον τὸν ἀνακαινούμενον εἰς ἐπίγνωσιν κατ' εἰκόνα τοῦ κτίσαντος αὐτόν,

Where there is neither Gentile nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian nor Scythian, bond nor free. But Christ is all and in all.

ubi non est gentilis et Judæus, circumcisio et præputium, Barbarus et Scytha, servus et liber : sed omnia, et in omnibus Christus.

ὅπου οὐκ ἔνι Ἕλλην καὶ Ἰουδαῖος, περιτομὴ καὶ ἀκροβυστία, βάρβαρος, Σκύθης, δοῦλος, ἐλεύθερος, ἀλλὰ πάντα καὶ ἐν πᾶσιν Χριστός.

Put ye on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience:

Induite vos ergo, sicut electi Dei, sancti, et dilecti, viscera misericordiæ, benignitatem, humilitatem, modestiam, patientiam:

Ἐνδύσασθε οὖν ὡς ἐκλεκτοὶ τοῦ θεοῦ, ἅγιοι καὶ ἠγαπημένοι, σπλάγχνα οἰκτιρμοῦ, χρηστότητα, ταπεινοφροσύνην, πραΰτητα, μακροθυμίαν,

Bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against another. Even as the Lord hath forgiven you, so do you also.

supportantes invicem, et donantes vobismetipsis si quis adversus aliquem habet querelam : sicut et Dominus donavit vobis, ita et vos.

ἀνεχόμενοι ἀλλήλων καὶ χαριζόμενοι ἑαυτοῖς ἐάν τις πρός τινα ἔχῃ μομφήν: καθὼς καὶ ὁ κύριος ἐχαρίσατο ὑμῖν οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς:

But above all these things have charity, which is the bond of perfection.

Super omnia autem hæc, caritatem habete, quod est vinculum perfectionis:

ἐπὶ πᾶσιν δὲ τούτοις τὴν ἀγάπην, ὅ ἐστιν σύνδεσμος τῆς τελειότητος.

And let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful.

et pax Christi exsultet in cordibus vestris, in qua et vocati estis in uno corpore : et grati estote.

καὶ ἡ εἰρήνη τοῦ Χριστοῦ βραβευέτω ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν, εἰς ἣν καὶ ἐκλήθητε ἐν [ἑνὶ] σώματι: καὶ εὐχάριστοι γίνεσθε.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly: in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God.

Verbum Christi habitet in vobis abundanter, in omni sapientia, docentes, et commonentes vosmetipsos, psalmis, hymnis, et canticis spiritualibus, in gratia cantantes in cordibus vestris Deo.

ὁ λόγος τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐνοικείτω ἐν ὑμῖν πλουσίως, ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ διδάσκοντες καὶ νουθετοῦντες ἑαυτοὺς ψαλμοῖς, ὕμνοις, ᾠδαῖς πνευματικαῖς, ἐν χάριτι ᾄδοντες ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν τῷ θεῷ:

All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Omne, quodcumque facitis in verbo aut in opere, omnia in nomine Domini Jesu Christi, gratias agentes Deo et Patri per ipsum.

καὶ πᾶν ὅ τι ἐὰν ποιῆτε ἐν λόγῳ ἢ ἐν ἔργῳ, πάντα ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου Ἰησοῦ, εὐχαριστοῦντες τῷ θεῷ πατρὶ δι' αὐτοῦ.

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as it behoveth in the Lord.

Mulieres, subditæ estote viris, sicut oportet, in Domino.

Αἱ γυναῖκες, ὑποτάσσεσθε τοῖς ἀνδράσιν, ὡς ἀνῆκεν ἐν κυρίῳ.

Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter towards them.

Viri, diligite uxores vestras, et nolite amari esse ad illas.

οἱ ἄνδρες, ἀγαπᾶτε τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ μὴ πικραίνεσθε πρὸς αὐτάς.

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

Filii, obedite parentibus per omnia : hoc enim placitum est in Domino.

τὰ τέκνα, ὑπακούετε τοῖς γονεῦσιν κατὰ πάντα, τοῦτο γὰρ εὐάρεστόν ἐστιν ἐν κυρίῳ.

Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged.

Patres, nolite ad indignationem provocare filios vestros, ut non pusillo animo fiant.

οἱ πατέρες, μὴ ἐρεθίζετε τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν, ἵνα μὴ ἀθυμῶσιν.

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh: not serving to the eye, as pleasing men: but in simplicity of heart, fearing God.

Servi, obedite per omnia dominis carnalibus, non ad oculum servientes, quasi hominibus placentes, sed in simplicitate cordis, timentes Deum.

οἱ δοῦλοι, ὑπακούετε κατὰ πάντα τοῖς κατὰ σάρκα κυρίοις, μὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοδουλίαις ὡς ἀνθρωπάρεσκοι, ἀλλ' ἐν ἁπλότητι καρδίας, φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον.

Whatsoever you do, do it from the heart, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Quodcumque facitis, ex animo operamini sicut Domino, et non hominibus:

ὃ ἐὰν ποιῆτε, ἐκ ψυχῆς ἐργάζεσθε, ὡς τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρώποις,

Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.

scientes quod a Domino accipietis retributionem hæreditatis. Domino Christo servite.

εἰδότες ὅτι ἀπὸ κυρίου ἀπολήμψεσθε τὴν ἀνταπόδοσιν τῆς κληρονομίας. τῷ κυρίῳ Χριστῷ δουλεύετε:

For he that doth wrong shall receive for that which he hath done wrongfully. And there is no respect of persons with God.

Qui enim injuriam facit, recipiet id quod inique gessit : et non est personarum acceptio apud Deum.

ὁ γὰρ ἀδικῶν κομίσεται ὃ ἠδίκησεν, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν προσωπολημψία.
