Amos 4

Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.

Audite verbum hoc, vaccæ pingues, quæ estis in monte Samariæ, quæ calumniam facitis egenis et confringitis pauperes; quæ dicitis dominis vestris : Afferte, et bibemus.

ἀκούσατε τὸν λόγον τοῦτον δαμάλεις τῆς Βασανίτιδος αἱ ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῆς Σαμαρείας αἱ καταδυναστεύουσαι πτωχοὺς καὶ καταπατοῦσαι πένητας αἱ λέγουσαι τοῖς κυρίοις αὐτῶν ἐπίδοτε ἡμῖν ὅπως πίωμεν

The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that lo, the days shall come upon you, when they shall lift you up on pikes, and what shall remain of you in boiling pots.

Juravit Dominus Deus in sancto suo, quia ecce dies venient super vos, et levabunt vos in contis, et reliquias vestras in ollis ferventibus.

ὀμνύει κύριος κατὰ τῶν ἁγίων αὐτοῦ διότι ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται ἐφ' ὑμᾶς καὶ λήμψονται ὑμᾶς ἐν ὅπλοις καὶ τοὺς μεθ' ὑμῶν εἰς λέβητας ὑποκαιομένους ἐμβαλοῦσιν ἔμπυροι λοιμοί

And you shall go out at the breaches one over against the other, and you shall be cast forth into Armon, saith the Lord.

Et per aperturas exibitis altera contra alteram, et projiciemini in Armon, dicit Dominus.

καὶ ἐξενεχθήσεσθε γυμναὶ κατέναντι ἀλλήλων καὶ ἀπορριφήσεσθε εἰς τὸ ὄρος τὸ Ρεμμαν λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός

Come ye to Bethel, and do wickedly: to Galgal, and multiply transgressions: and bring in the morning your victims, your tithes in three days.

Venite ad Bethel, et impie agite; ad Galgalam, et multiplicate prævaricationem : et afferte mane victimas vestras, tribus diebus decimas vestras.

εἰσήλθατε εἰς Βαιθηλ καὶ ἠνομήσατε καὶ εἰς Γαλγαλα ἐπληθύνατε τοῦ ἀσεβῆσαι καὶ ἠνέγκατε εἰς τὸ πρωὶ θυσίας ὑμῶν εἰς τὴν τριημερίαν τὰ ἐπιδέκατα ὑμῶν

And offer a sacrifice of praise with leaven: and call free offerings, and proclaim it: for so you would do, O children of Israel, saith the Lord God.

Et sacrificate de fermentato laudem, et vocate voluntarias oblationes, et annuntiate; sic enim voluistis, filii Israël, dicit Dominus Deus.

καὶ ἀνέγνωσαν ἔξω νόμον καὶ ἐπεκαλέσαντο ὁμολογίας ἀπαγγείλατε ὅτι ταῦτα ἠγάπησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός

Whereupon I also have given you dullness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet you have not returned to me, saith the Lord.

Unde et ego dedi vobis stuporem dentium in cunctis urbibus vestris, et indigentiam panum in omnibus locis vestris; et non estis reversi ad me, dicit Dominus.

καὶ ἐγὼ δώσω ὑμῖν γομφιασμὸν ὀδόντων ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν ὑμῶν καὶ ἔνδειαν ἄρτων ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς τόποις ὑμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐπεστρέψατε πρός με λέγει κύριος

I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon: and the piece whereupon I rained not, withered.

Ego quoque prohibui a vobis imbrem, cum adhuc tres menses superessent usque ad messem : et plui super unam civitatem, et super alteram civitatem non plui; pars una compluta est, et pars super quam non plui, aruit.

καὶ ἐγὼ ἀνέσχον ἐξ ὑμῶν τὸν ὑετὸν πρὸ τριῶν μηνῶν τοῦ τρυγήτου καὶ βρέξω ἐπὶ πόλιν μίαν ἐπὶ δὲ πόλιν μίαν οὐ βρέξω μερὶς μία βραχήσεται καὶ μερίς ἐφ' ἣν οὐ βρέξω ἐπ' αὐτήν ξηρανθήσεται

And two and three cities went to one city to drink water, and were not filled: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.

Et venerunt duæ et tres civitates ad unam civitatem ut biberent aquam, et non sunt satiatæ; et non redistis ad me, dicit Dominus.

καὶ συναθροισθήσονται δύο καὶ τρεῖς πόλεις εἰς πόλιν μίαν τοῦ πιεῖν ὕδωρ καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐμπλησθῶσιν καὶ οὐκ ἐπεστρέψατε πρός με λέγει κύριος

I struck you with a burning wind, and with mildew, the palmerworm hath eaten up your many gardens, and your vineyards: your olive groves, and fig groves: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.

Percussi vos in vento urente, et in aurugine : multitudinem hortorum vestrorum et vinearum vestrarum, oliveta vestra et ficeta vestra comedit eruca : et non redistis ad me, dicit Dominus.

ἐπάταξα ὑμᾶς ἐν πυρώσει καὶ ἐν ἰκτέρῳ ἐπληθύνατε κήπους ὑμῶν ἀμπελῶνας ὑμῶν καὶ συκῶνας ὑμῶν καὶ ἐλαιῶνας ὑμῶν κατέφαγεν ἡ κάμπη καὶ οὐδ' ὧς ἐπεστρέψατε πρός με λέγει κύριος

I sent death upon you in the way of Egypt, I slew your young men with the sword, even to the captivity of your horses: and I made the stench of your camp to come up into your nostrils: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.

Misi in vos mortem in via Ægypti; percussi in gladio juvenes vestros, usque ad captivitatem equorum vestrorum, et ascendere feci putredinem castrorum vestrorum in nares vestras : et non redistis ad me, dicit Dominus.

ἐξαπέστειλα εἰς ὑμᾶς θάνατον ἐν ὁδῷ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἀπέκτεινα ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ τοὺς νεανίσκους ὑμῶν μετὰ αἰχμαλωσίας ἵππων σου καὶ ἀνήγαγον ἐν πυρὶ τὰς παρεμβολὰς ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου καὶ οὐδ' ὧς ἐπεστρέψατε πρός με λέγει κύριος

I destroyed some of you, as God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, and you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.

Subverti vos sicut subvertit Deus Sodomam et Gomorrham, et facti estis quasi torris raptus ab incendio : et non redistis ad me, dicit Dominus.

κατέστρεψα ὑμᾶς καθὼς κατέστρεψεν ὁ θεὸς Σοδομα καὶ Γομορρα καὶ ἐγένεσθε ὡς δαλὸς ἐξεσπασμένος ἐκ πυρός καὶ οὐδ' ὧς ἐπεστρέψατε πρός με λέγει κύριος

Therefore I will do these things to thee, O Israel: and after I shall have done these things to thee, be prepared to meet thy God, O Israel.

Quapropter hæc faciam tibi, Israël : postquam autem hæc fecero tibi, præparare in occursum Dei tui, Israël.

διὰ τοῦτο οὕτως ποιήσω σοι Ισραηλ πλὴν ὅτι οὕτως ποιήσω σοι ἑτοιμάζου τοῦ ἐπικαλεῖσθαι τὸν θεόν σου Ισραηλ

For behold he that formeth the mountains and createth the wind, and declareth his word to man, he that maketh the morning mist, and walketh upon the high places of the earth: the Lord the God of hosts is his name.

Quia ecce formans montes, et creans ventum, et annuntians homini eloquium suum, faciens matutinam nebulam, et gradiens super excelsa terræ : Dominus Deus exercituum nomen ejus.

διότι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ στερεῶν βροντὴν καὶ κτίζων πνεῦμα καὶ ἀπαγγέλλων εἰς ἀνθρώπους τὸν χριστὸν αὐτοῦ ποιῶν ὄρθρον καὶ ὁμίχλην καὶ ἐπιβαίνων ἐπὶ τὰ ὕψη τῆς γῆς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ὄνομα αὐτῷ
