2 Chronicles 36

Then the people of the land took Joachaz the son of Josias, and made him king instead of his father in Jerusalem.

Tulit ergo populus terræ Joachaz filium Josiæ, et constituit regem pro patre suo in Jerusalem.

καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς τὸν Ιωαχαζ υἱὸν Ιωσιου καὶ ἔχρισαν αὐτὸν καὶ κατέστησαν αὐτὸν εἰς βασιλέα ἀντὶ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

Joachaz was three and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

Viginti trium annorum erat Joachaz cum regnare cœpisset, et tribus mensibus regnavit in Jerusalem.

υἱὸς εἴκοσι καὶ τριῶν ἐτῶν Ιωαχαζ ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ τρίμηνον ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Αμιταλ θυγάτηρ Ιερεμιου ἐκ Λοβενα καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου κατὰ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν Φαραω Νεχαω ἐν Δεβλαθα ἐν γῇ Εμαθ τοῦ μὴ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

And the king of Egypt came to Jerusalem, and deposed him, and condemned the land in a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

Amovit autem eum rex Ægypti cum venisset in Jerusalem, et condemnavit terram centum talentis argenti, et talento auri.

καὶ μετήγαγεν αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἐπέβαλεν φόρον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἑκατὸν τάλαντα ἀργυρίου καὶ τάλαντον χρυσίου

And he made Eliakim his brother king in his stead, over Juda and Jerusalem: and he turned his name to Joakim: but he took Joachaz with him and carried him away into Egypt.

Constituitque pro eo regem Eliakim fratrem ejus super Judam et Jerusalem, et vertit nomen ejus Joakim : ipsum vero Joachaz tulit secum, et abduxit in Ægyptum.

καὶ κατέστησεν Φαραω Νεχαω τὸν Ελιακιμ υἱὸν Ιωσιου βασιλέα Ιουδα ἀντὶ Ιωσιου τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ μετέστρεψεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ιωακιμ καὶ τὸν Ιωαχαζ ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ ἔλαβεν Φαραω Νεχαω καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκεῖ καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον ἔδωκαν τῷ Φαραω τότε ἤρξατο ἡ γῆ φορολογεῖσθαι τοῦ δοῦναι τὸ ἀργύριον ἐπὶ στόμα Φαραω καὶ ἕκαστος κατὰ δύναμιν ἀπῄτει τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον παρὰ τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς δοῦναι τῷ Φαραω Νεχαω

Joakim was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did evil before the Lord his God.

Viginti quinque annorum erat Joakim cum regnare cœpisset, et undecim annis regnavit in Jerusalem : fecitque malum coram Domino Deo suo.

ὢν εἴκοσι καὶ πέντε ἐτῶν Ιωακιμ ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ ἕνδεκα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Ζεχωρα θυγάτηρ Νηριου ἐκ Ραμα καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐναντίον κυρίου κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος εἰς τὴν γῆν καὶ ἦν αὐτῷ δουλεύων τρία ἔτη καὶ ἀπέστη ἀπ' αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν κύριος ἐπ' αὐτοὺς τοὺς Χαλδαίους καὶ λῃστήρια Σύρων καὶ λῃστήρια Μωαβιτῶν καὶ υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ τῆς Σαμαρείας καὶ ἀπέστησαν μετὰ τὸν λόγον τοῦτον κατὰ τὸν λόγον κυρίου ἐν χειρὶ τῶν παίδων αὐτοῦ τῶν προφητῶν πλὴν θυμὸς κυρίου ἦν ἐπὶ Ιουδαν τοῦ ἀποστῆσαι αὐτὸν ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ διὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας Μανασση ἐν πᾶσιν οἷς ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐν αἵματι ἀθῴῳ ᾧ ἐξέχεεν Ιωακιμ καὶ ἔπλησεν τὴν Ιερουσαλημ αἵματος ἀθῴου καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν κύριος ἐξολεθρεῦσαι αὐτούς

Against him came up Nabuchodonosor king of the Chaldeans, and led him bound in chains into Babylon.

Contra hunc ascendit Nabuchodonosor rex Chaldæorum, et vinctum catenis duxit in Babylonem.

καὶ ἀνέβη ἐπ' αὐτὸν Ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν χαλκαῖς πέδαις καὶ ἀπήγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα

And he carried also thither the vessels of the Lord, and put them in his temple.

Ad quam et vasa Domini transtulit, et posuit ea in templo suo.

καὶ μέρος τῶν σκευῶν οἴκου κυρίου ἀπήνεγκεν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὰ ἐν τῷ ναῷ αὐτοῦ ἐν Βαβυλῶνι

But the rest of the acts of Joakim, and his abominations, which he wrought, and the things that were found in him, are contained in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel. And Joachin his son reigned in his stead.

Reliqua autem verborum Joakim, et abominationum ejus quas operatus est, et quæ inventa sunt in eo, continentur in libro regum Juda et Israël. Regnavit autem Joachin filius ejus pro eo.

καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τῶν λόγων Ιωακιμ καὶ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησεν οὐκ ἰδοὺ ταῦτα γεγραμμένα ἐπὶ βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Ιωακιμ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν Γανοζα μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιεχονιας υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ' αὐτοῦ

Joachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did evil in the sight of the Lord.

Octo annorum erat Joachin cum regnare cœpisset, et tribus mensibus ac decem diebus regnavit in Jerusalem : fecitque malum in conspectu Domini.

υἱὸς ὀκτωκαίδεκα ἐτῶν Ιεχονιας ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ τρίμηνον καὶ δέκα ἡμέρας ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου

And at the return of the year, king Nabuchodonosor sent, and brought him to Babylon, carrying away at the same time the most precious vessels of the house of the Lord: and he made Sedecias his uncle king over Juda and Jerusalem.

Cumque anni circulus volveretur, misit Nabuchodonosor rex, qui adduxerunt eum in Babylonem, asportatis simul pretiosissimis vasis domus Domini. Regem vero constituit Sedeciam patruum ejus super Judam et Jerusalem.

καὶ ἐπιστρέφοντος τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ναβουχοδονοσορ καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν αὐτὸν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα μετὰ τῶν σκευῶν τῶν ἐπιθυμητῶν οἴκου κυρίου καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Σεδεκιαν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ Ιερουσαλημ

Sedecias was one and twenty years old when he began to reign: and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.

Viginti et unius anni erat Sedecias cum regnare cœpisset, et undecim annis regnavit in Jerusalem:

ἐτῶν εἴκοσι ἑνὸς Σεδεκιας ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ ἕνδεκα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

And he did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God, and did not reverence the face of Jeremiah the prophet speaking to him from the mouth of the Lord.

fecitque malum in oculis Domini Dei sui, nec erubuit faciem Jeremiæ prophetæ, loquentis ad se ex ore Domini.

καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐνετράπη ἀπὸ προσώπου Ιερεμιου τοῦ προφήτου καὶ ἐκ στόματος κυρίου

He also revolted from king Nabuchodonosor, who had made him swear by God: and he hardened his neck and his heart, from returning to the Lord the God of Israel.

A rege quoque Nabuchodonosor recessit, qui adjuraverat eum per Deum : et induravit cervicem suam et cor ut non reverteretur ad Dominum Deum Israël.

ἐν τῷ τὰ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ναβουχοδονοσορ ἀθετῆσαι ἃ ὥρκισεν αὐτὸν κατὰ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐσκλήρυνεν τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ κατίσχυσεν τοῦ μὴ ἐπιστρέψαι πρὸς κύριον θεὸν Ισραηλ

Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people wickedly transgressed according to all the abominations of the Gentiles: and they defiled the house of the Lord, which he had sanctified to himself in Jerusalem.

Sed et universi principes sacerdotum et populus prævaricati sunt inique juxta universas abominationes gentium, et polluerunt domum Domini quam sanctificaverat sibi in Jerusalem.

καὶ πάντες οἱ ἔνδοξοι Ιουδα καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς ἐπλήθυναν τοῦ ἀθετῆσαι ἀθετήματα βδελυγμάτων ἐθνῶν καὶ ἐμίαναν τὸν οἶκον κυρίου τὸν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

And the Lord the God of their fathers sent to them, by the hand of his messengers, rising early, and daily admonishing them: because he spared his people and his dwelling place.

Mittebat autem Dominus Deus patrum suorum ad illos per manum nuntiorum suorum de nocte consurgens, et quotidie commonens : eo quod parceret populo et habitaculo suo.

καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν ἐν χειρὶ προφητῶν ὀρθρίζων καὶ ἀποστέλλων τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἦν φειδόμενος τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῦ ἁγιάσματος αὐτοῦ

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused the prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, and there was no remedy.

At illi subsannabant nuntios Dei, et parvipendebant sermones ejus, illudebantque prophetis, donec ascenderet furor Domini in populum ejus, et esset nulla curatio.

καὶ ἦσαν μυκτηρίζοντες τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξουδενοῦντες τοὺς λόγους αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐμπαίζοντες ἐν τοῖς προφήταις αὐτοῦ ἕως ἀνέβη ὁ θυμὸς κυρίου ἐν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ ἕως οὐκ ἦν ἴαμα

For he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slew their young men with the sword in the house of his sanctuary, he had no compassion on young man, or maiden, old man or even him that stooped for age, but he delivered them all into his hands.

Adduxit enim super eos regem Chaldæorum, et interfecit juvenes eorum gladio in domo sanctuarii sui : non est misertus adolescentis, et virginis, et senis, nec decrepiti quidem, sed omnes tradidit in manibus ejus.

καὶ ἤγαγεν ἐπ' αὐτοὺς βασιλέα Χαλδαίων καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν τοὺς νεανίσκους αὐτῶν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ ἐν οἴκῳ ἁγιάσματος αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσατο τοῦ Σεδεκιου καὶ τὰς παρθένους αὐτῶν οὐκ ἠλέησαν καὶ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους αὐτῶν ἀπήγαγον τὰ πάντα παρέδωκεν ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν

And all the vessels of the house of Lord, great and small, and the treasures of the temple and of the king, and of the princes he carried away to Babylon.

Universaque vasa domus Domini, tam majora quam minora, et thesauros templi, et regis, et principum, transtulit in Babylonem.

καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη οἴκου θεοῦ τὰ μεγάλα καὶ τὰ μικρὰ καὶ τοὺς θησαυροὺς καὶ πάντας τοὺς θησαυροὺς βασιλέως καὶ μεγιστάνων πάντα εἰσήνεγκεν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα

And the enemies set fire to the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burnt all the towers, and what soever was precious they destroyed.

Incenderunt hostes domum Dei, destruxeruntque murum Jerusalem : universas turres combusserunt, et quidquid pretiosum fuerat, demoliti sunt.

καὶ ἐνέπρησεν τὸν οἶκον κυρίου καὶ κατέσκαψεν τὸ τεῖχος Ιερουσαλημ καὶ τὰς βάρεις αὐτῆς ἐνέπρησεν ἐν πυρὶ καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ὡραῖον εἰς ἀφανισμόν

Whosoever escaped the sword, was led into Babylon, and there served the king and his sons, till the reign of the king of Persia,

Si quis evaserat gladium, ductus in Babylonem servivit regi et filiis ejus, donec imperaret rex Persarum,

καὶ ἀπῴκισεν τοὺς καταλοίπους εἰς Βαβυλῶνα καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ εἰς δούλους ἕως βασιλείας Μήδων

That the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, and the land might keep her sabbaths: for all the days of the desolation she kept a sabbath, till the seventy years were expired.

et compleretur sermo Domini ex ore Jeremiæ, et celebraret terra sabbata sua : cunctis enim diebus desolationis egit sabbatum usque dum complerentur septuaginta anni.

τοῦ πληρωθῆναι λόγον κυρίου διὰ στόματος Ιερεμιου ἕως τοῦ προσδέξασθαι τὴν γῆν τὰ σάββατα αὐτῆς σαββατίσαι πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ἐρημώσεως αὐτῆς ἐσαββάτισεν εἰς συμπλήρωσιν ἐτῶν ἑβδομήκοντα

But in the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, to fulfil the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the heart of Cyrus, king of the Persians: who commanded it to be proclaimed through all his kingdom, and by writing also, saying:

Anno autem primo Cyri regis Persarum, ad explendum sermonem Domini quem locutus fuerat per os Jeremiæ, suscitavit Dominus spiritum Cyri regis Persarum : qui jussit prædicari in universo regno suo, etiam per scripturam, dicens:

ἔτους πρώτου Κύρου βασιλέως Περσῶν μετὰ τὸ πληρωθῆναι ῥῆμα κυρίου διὰ στόματος Ιερεμιου ἐξήγειρεν κύριος τὸ πνεῦμα Κύρου βασιλέως Περσῶν καὶ παρήγγειλεν κηρύξαι ἐν πάσῃ τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ ἐν γραπτῷ λέγων

Thus saith Cyrus king of the Persians: All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord the God of heaven given to me, and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judea: who is there among you of all his people? The Lord his God be with him, and let him go up.

Hæc dicit Cyrus rex Persarum : Omnia regna terræ dedit mihi Dominus Deus cæli, et ipse præcepit mihi ut ædificarem ei domum in Jerusalem, quæ est in Judæa : quis ex vobis est in omni populo ejus? sit Dominus Deis suus cum eo, et ascendat.

τάδε λέγει Κῦρος βασιλεὺς Περσῶν πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τῆς γῆς ἔδωκέν μοι κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐνετείλατό μοι οἰκοδομῆσαι αὐτῷ οἶκον ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἐν τῇ Ιουδαίᾳ τίς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐκ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ ἔσται ὁ θεὸς αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβήτω
