1 Chronicles 22

Then David said: This is the house of God, And this is the altar for the holocaust of Israel.

Dixitque David : Hæc est domus Dei, et hoc altare in holocaustum Israëli.

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ οἶκος κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοῦτο τὸ θυσιαστήριον εἰς ὁλοκαύτωσιν τῷ Ισραηλ

And he commanded to gather together all the proselytes of the land of Israel, and out of them he appointed stonecutters to hew stones and polish them, to build the house of God.

Et præcepit ut congregarentur omnes proselyti de terra Israël, et constituit ex eis latomos ad cædendos lapides et poliendos, ut ædificaretur domus Dei.

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ συναγαγεῖν πάντας τοὺς προσηλύτους ἐν γῇ Ισραηλ καὶ κατέστησεν λατόμους λατομῆσαι λίθους ξυστοὺς τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι οἶκον τῷ θεῷ

And David prepared in abundance iron for the nails of the gates, and for the closures and joinings: and of brass an immense weight.

Ferrum quoque plurimum ad clavos januarum, et ad commissuras atque juncturas, præparavit David : et æris pondus innumerabile.

καὶ σίδηρον πολὺν εἰς τοὺς ἥλους τῶν θυρωμάτων καὶ τῶν πυλῶν καὶ τοὺς στροφεῖς ἡτοίμασεν Δαυιδ καὶ χαλκὸν εἰς πλῆθος οὐκ ἦν σταθμός

And the cedar trees were without number, which the Sidonians, and Tyrians brought to David.

Ligna quoque cedrina non poterant æstimari, quæ Sidonii et Tyrii deportaverant ad David.

καὶ ξύλα κέδρινα οὐκ ἦν ἀριθμός ὅτι ἐφέροσαν οἱ Σιδώνιοι καὶ οἱ Τύριοι ξύλα κέδρινα εἰς πλῆθος τῷ Δαυιδ

And David said: Solomon my son is very young and tender, and the house which I would have to be built to the Lord, must be such as to be renowned in all countries: therefore I will prepare him necessaries. And therefore before his death he prepared all the charges.

Et dixit David : Solomon filius meus puer parvulus est et delicatus : domus autem, quam ædificari volo Domino, talis esse debet ut in cunctis regionibus nominetur : præparabo ergo ei necessaria. Et ob hanc causam ante mortem suam omnes præparavit impensas.

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός μου παιδάριον ἁπαλόν καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι τῷ κυρίῳ εἰς μεγαλωσύνην ἄνω εἰς ὄνομα καὶ εἰς δόξαν εἰς πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἑτοιμάσω αὐτῷ καὶ ἡτοίμασεν Δαυιδ εἰς πλῆθος ἔμπροσθεν τῆς τελευτῆς αὐτοῦ

And he called for Solomon his son: and commanded him to build a house to the Lord the God of Israel.

Vocavitque Salomonem filium suum, et præcepit ei ut ædificaret domum Domino Deo Israël.

καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Σαλωμων τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτῷ τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι τὸν οἶκον τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ Ισραηλ

And David said to Solomon: My son, it was my desire to have built a house to the name of the Lord my God.

Dixitque David ad Salomonem : Fili mi, voluntatis meæ fuit ut ædificarem domum nomini Domini Dei mei:

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ Σαλωμων τέκνον ἐμοὶ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ ψυχῇ τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματι κυρίου θεοῦ

But the word of the Lord came to me, saying: Thou hast shed much blood, and fought many battles, so thou cannot not build house to my name, after shedding so much blood before me:

sed factus est sermo Domini ad me, dicens : Multum sanguinem effudisti, et plurima bella bellasti : non poteris ædificare domum nomini meo, tanto effuso sanguine coram me:

καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ' ἐμοὶ λόγος κυρίου λέγων αἷμα εἰς πλῆθος ἐξέχεας καὶ πολέμους μεγάλους ἐποίησας οὐκ οἰκοδομήσεις οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματί μου ὅτι αἵματα πολλὰ ἐξέχεας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐναντίον μου

The son, that shall be born to thee, shall be a most quiet man: for I will make him rest from all his enemies round about: and therefore he shall be called Peaceable: and I will give peace and quietness to Israel all his days.

filius qui nascetur tibi, erit vir quietissimus : faciam enim eum requiescere ab omnibus inimicis suis per circuitum : et ob hanc causam Pacificus vocabitur : et pacem et otium dabo in Israël cunctis diebus ejus.

ἰδοὺ υἱὸς τίκτεταί σοι οὗτος ἔσται ἀνὴρ ἀναπαύσεως καὶ ἀναπαύσω αὐτὸν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἐχθρῶν κυκλόθεν ὅτι Σαλωμων ὄνομα αὐτῷ καὶ εἰρήνην καὶ ἡσυχίαν δώσω ἐπὶ Ισραηλ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ

He shall build a house to my name, and he shall be a son to me, and I will be a father to him: and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

Ipse ædificabit domum nomini meo, et ipse erit mihi in filium, et ego ero illi in patrem : firmaboque solium regni ejus super Israël in æternum.

οὗτος οἰκοδομήσει οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματί μου καὶ οὗτος ἔσται μοι εἰς υἱὸν κἀγὼ αὐτῷ εἰς πατέρα καὶ ἀνορθώσω θρόνον βασιλείας αὐτοῦ ἐν Ισραηλ ἕως αἰῶνος

Now then, my son, the Lord be with thee, and do thou prosper, and build the house to the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken of thee.

Nunc ergo fili mi, sit Dominus tecum, et prosperare, et ædifica domum Domino Deo tuo sicut locutus est de te.

καὶ νῦν υἱέ μου ἔσται μετὰ σοῦ κύριος καὶ εὐοδώσει καὶ οἰκοδομήσεις οἶκον τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ σου ὡς ἐλάλησεν περὶ σοῦ

The Lord also give thee wisdom and understanding, that thou mayest be able to rule Israel, and to keep the law of the Lord thy God.

Det quoque Dominus prudentiam et sensum ut regere possis Israël, et custodire legem Domini Dei tui.

ἀλλ' ἢ δῴη σοι σοφίαν καὶ σύνεσιν κύριος καὶ κατισχύσαι σε ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ τοῦ φυλάσσεσθαι καὶ τοῦ ποιεῖν τὸν νόμον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου

For then thou shalt be able to prosper, if thou keep the commandments, and judgments, which the Lord commanded Moses to teach Israel: take courage and act manfully, fear not, nor be dismayed.

Tunc enim proficere poteris, si custodieris mandata et judicia quæ præcepit Dominus Moysi ut doceret Israël. Confortare, et viriliter age : ne timeas, neque paveas.

τότε εὐοδώσει ἐὰν φυλάξῃς τοῦ ποιεῖν τὰ προστάγματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα ἃ ἐνετείλατο κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ ἐπὶ Ισραηλ ἀνδρίζου καὶ ἴσχυε μὴ φοβοῦ μηδὲ πτοηθῇς

Behold I in my poverty have prepared the charges of the house of the Lord, of gold a hundred thousand talents, and of silver a million of talents: but of brass, and of iron there is no weight, for the abundance surpasseth all account: timber also and stones I have prepared for all the charges.

Ecce ego in paupertate mea præparavi impensas domus Domini, auri talenta centum millia, et argenti mille millia talentorum : æris vero et ferri non est pondus, vincitur enim numerus magnitudine; ligna et lapides præparavi ad universa impendia.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ κατὰ τὴν πτωχείαν μου ἡτοίμασα εἰς οἶκον κυρίου χρυσίου ταλάντων ἑκατὸν χιλιάδας καὶ ἀργυρίου ταλάντων χιλίας χιλιάδας καὶ χαλκὸν καὶ σίδηρον οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν σταθμός ὅτι εἰς πλῆθός ἐστιν καὶ ξύλα καὶ λίθους ἡτοίμασα καὶ πρὸς ταῦτα πρόσθες

Thou hast also workmen in abundance, hewers of stones, and masons, and carpenters, and of all trades the most skilful in their work,

Habes quoque plurimos artifices, latomos, et cæmentarios, artificesque lignorum, et omnium artium ad faciendum opus prudentissimos,

καὶ μετὰ σοῦ εἰς πλῆθος ποιούντων ἔργα τεχνῖται καὶ οἰκοδόμοι λίθων καὶ τέκτονες ξύλων καὶ πᾶς σοφὸς ἐν παντὶ ἔργῳ

In gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, whereof there is no number. Arise then, and be doing, and the Lord will be with thee.

in auro et argento et ære et ferro, cujus non est numerus. Surge igitur et fac, et erit Dominus tecum.

ἐν χρυσίῳ ἐν ἀργυρίῳ ἐν χαλκῷ καὶ ἐν σιδήρῳ οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός ἀνάστηθι καὶ ποίει καὶ κύριος μετὰ σοῦ

David also charged all the princes of Israel, to help Solomon his son,

Præcepit quoque David cunctis principibus Israël ut adjuvarent Salomonem filium suum:

καὶ ἐνετείλατο Δαυιδ τοῖς πᾶσιν ἄρχουσιν Ισραηλ ἀντιλαβέσθαι τῷ Σαλωμων υἱῷ αὐτοῦ

Saying: You see, that the Lord your God is with you, and hath given you rest round about, and hath delivered all your enemies into your hands, and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people.

Cernitis, inquiens, quod Dominus Deus vester vobiscum sit, et dederit vobis requiem per circuitum, et tradiderit omnes inimicos vestros in manus vestras, et subjecta sit terra coram Domino, et coram populo ejus.

οὐχὶ κύριος μεθ' ὑμῶν καὶ ἀνέπαυσεν ὑμᾶς κυκλόθεν ὅτι ἔδωκεν ἐν χερσὶν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν γῆν καὶ ὑπετάγη ἡ γῆ ἐναντίον κυρίου καὶ ἐναντίον λαοῦ αὐτοῦ

Give therefore your hearts and your souls, to seek the Lord your God and arise, and build a sanctuary to the Lord God, that the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the vessels consecrated to the Lord, may be brought into the house, which is built to the name of the Lord.

Præbete igitur corda vestra et animas vestras, ut quæratis Dominum Deum vestrum : et consurgite, et ædificate sanctuarium Domino Deo, ut introducatur arca fœderis Domini, et vasa Domino consecrata, in domum quæ ædificatur nomini Domini.

νῦν δότε καρδίας ὑμῶν καὶ ψυχὰς ὑμῶν τοῦ ζητῆσαι τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐγέρθητε καὶ οἰκοδομήσατε ἁγίασμα κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ ὑμῶν τοῦ εἰσενέγκαι τὴν κιβωτὸν διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ σκεύη τὰ ἅγια τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς οἶκον τὸν οἰκοδομούμενον τῷ ὀνόματι κυρίου
