1 Chronicles 16

1So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent, which David had pitched for it: and they offered holocausts, and peace offerings before God.

2And when David had made an end of offering holocausts, and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.

3And he divided to all and every one, both men and women, a loaf of bread, and a piece of roasted beef, and flour fried with oil.

4And he appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to remember his works, and to glorify, and praise the Lord God of Israel.

5Asaph the chief, and next after him Zacharias: moreover Jahiel, and Semiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mathathias, and Eliab, and Banaias, and Obededom: and Jehiel over the instruments of psaltery, and harps: and Asaph sounded with cymbals:

6But Banaias, and Jaziel the priests, to sound the trumpet continually before the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

7In that day David made Asaph the chief to give praise to the Lord with his brethren.

8Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make known his doings among the nations.

9Sing to him, yea, sing praises to him: and relate all his wondrous works.

10Praise ye his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice, that seek the Lord.

11Seek ye the Lord, and his power: seek ye his face evermore.

12Remember his wonderful works, which he hath done: his signs, and the judgments of his mouth.

13O ye seed of Israel his servants, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

14He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

15Remember for ever his covenant: the word, which he commanded to a thousand generations.

16The covenant which he made with Abraham: and his oath to Isaac.

17And he appointed the same to Jacob for a precept: and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

18Saying: To thee will I give the land of Chanaan: the lot of your inheritance.

19When they were but a small number: very few and sojourners in it.

20And they passed from nation to nation: and from a kingdom to another people.

21He suffered no man to do them wrong: and reproved kings for their sake.

22Touch not my anointed: and do no evil to my prophets.

23Sing ye to the Lord, all the earth: show forth from day to day his salvation.

24Declare his glory among the Gentiles: his wonders among all people.

25For the Lord is great and exceedingly to be praised: and he is to be feared above all gods.

26For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

27Praise and magnificence are before him: strength and joy in his place.

28Bring ye to the Lord, O ye families of the nations: bring ye to the Lord glory and empire.

29Give to the Lord glory to his name, bring up sacrifice, and come ye in his sight: and adore the Lord in holy becomingness.

30Let all the earth be moved at his presence: for he hath founded the world immoveable.

31Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth be glad: and let them say among the nations: The Lord hath reigned.

32Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all things that are in them.

33Then shall the trees of the wood give praise before the Lord: because he is come to judge the earth.

34Give ye glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

35And say ye: Save us, O God our savior: and gather us together, and deliver us from the nations, that we may give glory to thy holy name, and may rejoice in singing thy praises.

36Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity: and let all the people say Amen, and a hymn to God.

37So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, Asaph and his brethren to minister in the presence of the ark continually day by day, and in their courses.

38And Obededom, with his brethren sixty-eight: and Obededom the son of Idithun, and Hosa he appointed to be porters.

39And Sadoc the priest, and his brethren priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place, which was in Gabaon.

40That they should offer holocausts to the Lord upon the altar of holocausts continually, morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel.

41And after him Heman, and Idithun, and the rest that were chosen, every one by his name to give praise to the Lord: because his mercy endureth for ever.

42And Heman and Idithun sounded the trumpet, and played on the cymbals, and all kinds of musical instruments to sing praises to God: and the sons of Idithun he made porters.

43And all the people returned to their houses: and David to bless also his own house.

1Attulerunt igitur arcam Dei, et constituerunt eam in medio tabernaculi quod tetenderat ei David : et obtulerunt holocausta et pacifica coram Deo.

2Cumque complesset David offerens holocausta et pacifica, benedixit populo in nomine Domini.

3Et divisit universis per singulos, a viro usque ad mulierem, tortam panis, et partem assæ carnis bubalæ, et frixam oleo similam.

4Constituitque coram arca Domini de Levitis, qui ministrarent, et recordarentur operum ejus, et glorificarent atque laudarent Dominum Deum Israël:

5Asaph principem, et secundum ejus Zachariam : porro Jahiel, et Semiramoth, et Jehiel, et Mathathiam, et Eliab, et Banaiam, et Obededom : Jehiel super organa psalterii et lyras : Asaph autem ut cymbalis personaret:

6Banaiam vero et Jaziel sacerdotes canere tuba jugiter coram arca fœderis Domini.

7In illo die fecit David principem ad confitendum Domino Asaph et fratres ejus:

8Confitemini Domino, et invocate nomen ejus : notas facite in populis adinventiones ejus.

9Cantate ei, et psallite ei, et narrate omnia mirabilia ejus.

10Laudate nomen sanctum ejus : lætetur cor quærentium Dominum.

11Quærite Dominum, et virtutem ejus : quærite faciem ejus semper.

12Recordamini mirabilium ejus quæ fecit; signorum illius, et judiciorum oris ejus,

13semen Israël servi ejus, filii Jacob electi ejus.

14Ipse Dominus Deus noster : in universa terra judicia ejus.

15Recordamini in sempiternum pacti ejus : sermonis quem præcepit in mille generationes,

16quem pepigit cum Abraham, et juramenti illius cum Isaac.

17Et constituit illud Jacob in præceptum, et Israël in pactum sempiternum,

18dicens : Tibi dabo terram Chanaan, funiculum hæreditatis vestræ :

19cum essent pauci numero, parvi et coloni ejus.

20Et transierunt de gente in gentem, et de regno ad populum alterum.

21Non dimisit quemquam calumniari eos, sed increpavit pro eis reges.

22Nolite tangere christos meos, et in prophetis meis nolite malignari.

23Cantate Domino omnis terra; annuntiate ex die in diem salutare ejus :

24narrate in gentibus gloriam ejus; in cunctis populis mirabilia ejus.

25Quia magnus Dominus, et laudabilis nimis, et horribilis super omnes deos.

26Omnes enim dii populorum idola : Dominus autem cælos fecit.

27Confessio et magnificentia coram eo : fortitudo et gaudium in loco ejus.

28Afferte Domino, familiæ populorum : afferte Domino gloriam et imperium.

29Date Domino gloriam; nomini ejus levate sacrificium, et venite in conspectu ejus : et adorate Dominum in decore sancto.

30Commoveatur a facie ejus omnis terra : ipse enim fundavit orbem immobilem.

31Lætentur cæli, et exultet terra, et dicant in nationibus : Dominus regnavit.

32Tonet mare et plenitudo ejus; exultent agri, et omnia quæ in eis sunt.

33Tunc laudabunt ligna saltus coram Domino : quia venit judicare terram.

34Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus : quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus.

35Et dicite : Salva nos, Deus salvator noster, et congrega nos, et erue de gentibus : ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo, et exultemus in carminibus tuis.

36Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, ab æterno usque in æternum. Et dicat omnis populo : Amen, et hymnum Domino.

37Reliquit itaque ibi coram arca fœderis Domini Asaph et fratres ejus, ut ministrarent in conspectu arcæ jugiter per singulos dies, et vices suas.

38Porro Obededom, et fratres ejus sexaginta octo : et Obededom filium Idithun, et Hosa, constituit janitores;

39Sadoc autem sacerdotem, et fratres ejus sacerdotes, coram tabernaculo Domini in excelso quod erat in Gabaon,

40ut offerrent holocausta Domino super altare holocautomatis jugiter, mane et vespere, juxta omnia quæ scripta sunt in lege Domini, quam præcepit Israëli.

41Et post eum Heman, et Idithun, et reliquos electos, unumquemque vocabulo suo ad confitendum Domino, quoniam in æternum misericordia ejus.

42Heman quoque et Idithun canentes tuba, et quatientes cymbala et omnia musicorum organa ad canendum Deo : filios autem Idithun fecit esse portarios.

43Reversusque est omnis populus in domum suam : et David, ut benediceret etiam domui suæ.

1καὶ εἰσήνεγκαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἀπηρείσαντο αὐτὴν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς σκηνῆς ἧς ἔπηξεν αὐτῇ Δαυιδ καὶ προσήνεγκαν ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ σωτηρίου ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ

2καὶ συνετέλεσεν Δαυιδ ἀναφέρων ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ σωτηρίου καὶ εὐλόγησεν τὸν λαὸν ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου

3καὶ διεμέρισεν παντὶ ἀνδρὶ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἕως γυναικὸς τῷ ἀνδρὶ ἄρτον ἕνα ἀρτοκοπικὸν καὶ ἀμορίτην

4καὶ ἔταξεν κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης κυρίου ἐκ τῶν Λευιτῶν λειτουργοῦντας ἀναφωνοῦντας καὶ ἐξομολογεῖσθαι καὶ αἰνεῖν κύριον τὸν θεὸν Ισραηλ

5Ασαφ ὁ ἡγούμενος καὶ δευτερεύων αὐτῷ Ζαχαριας Ιιηλ Σεμιραμωθ Ιιηλ Ματταθιας Ελιαβ καὶ Βαναιας καὶ Αβδεδομ καὶ Ιιηλ ἐν ὀργάνοις νάβλαις καὶ κινύραις καὶ Ασαφ ἐν κυμβάλοις ἀναφωνῶν

6καὶ Βαναιας καὶ Οζιηλ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν ταῖς σάλπιγξιν διὰ παντὸς ἐναντίον τῆς κιβωτοῦ τῆς διαθήκης τοῦ θεοῦ

7ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τότε ἔταξεν Δαυιδ ἐν ἀρχῇ τοῦ αἰνεῖν τὸν κύριον ἐν χειρὶ Ασαφ καὶ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ

8ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ κυρίῳ ἐπικαλεῖσθε αὐτὸν ἐν ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ γνωρίσατε ἐν λαοῖς τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτοῦ

9ᾄσατε αὐτῷ καὶ ὑμνήσατε αὐτῷ διηγήσασθε πᾶσιν τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐποίησεν κύριος

10αἰνεῖτε ἐν ὀνόματι ἁγίῳ αὐτοῦ εὐφρανθήσεται καρδία ζητοῦσα τὴν εὐδοκίαν αὐτοῦ

11ζητήσατε τὸν κύριον καὶ ἰσχύσατε ζητήσατε τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ διὰ παντός

12μνημονεύετε τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐποίησεν τέρατα καὶ κρίματα τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ

13σπέρμα Ισραηλ παῖδες αὐτοῦ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ ἐκλεκτοὶ αὐτοῦ

14αὐτὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ τὰ κρίματα αὐτοῦ

15μνημονεύων εἰς αἰῶνα διαθήκης αὐτοῦ λόγον αὐτοῦ ὃν ἐνετείλατο εἰς χιλίας γενεάς

16ὃν διέθετο τῷ Αβρααμ καὶ τὸν ὅρκον αὐτοῦ τῷ Ισαακ

17ἔστησεν αὐτὸν τῷ Ιακωβ εἰς πρόσταγμα τῷ Ισραηλ διαθήκην αἰώνιον

18λέγων σοὶ δώσω τὴν γῆν Χανααν σχοίνισμα κληρονομίας ὑμῶν

19ἐν τῷ γενέσθαι αὐτοὺς ὀλιγοστοὺς ἀριθμῷ ὡς ἐσμικρύνθησαν καὶ παρῴκησαν ἐν αὐτῇ

20καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἀπὸ ἔθνους εἰς ἔθνος καὶ ἀπὸ βασιλείας εἰς λαὸν ἕτερον

21οὐκ ἀφῆκεν ἄνδρα τοῦ δυναστεῦσαι αὐτοὺς καὶ ἤλεγξεν περὶ αὐτῶν βασιλεῖς

22μὴ ἅψησθε τῶν χριστῶν μου καὶ ἐν τοῖς προφήταις μου μὴ πονηρεύεσθε

23ᾄσατε τῷ κυρίῳ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ ἀναγγείλατε ἐξ ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν σωτηρίαν αὐτοῦ

25ὅτι μέγας κύριος καὶ αἰνετὸς σφόδρα φοβερός ἐστιν ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς θεούς

26ὅτι πάντες οἱ θεοὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν εἴδωλα καὶ ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν οὐρανὸν ἐποίησεν

27δόξα καὶ ἔπαινος κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἰσχὺς καὶ καύχημα ἐν τόπῳ αὐτοῦ

28δότε τῷ κυρίῳ πατριαὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν δότε τῷ κυρίῳ δόξαν καὶ ἰσχύν

29δότε τῷ κυρίῳ δόξαν ὀνόματος αὐτοῦ λάβετε δῶρα καὶ ἐνέγκατε κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ προσκυνήσατε τῷ κυρίῳ ἐν αὐλαῖς ἁγίαις αὐτοῦ

30φοβηθήτω ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ κατορθωθήτω ἡ γῆ καὶ μὴ σαλευθήτω

31εὐφρανθήτω ὁ οὐρανός καὶ ἀγαλλιάσθω ἡ γῆ καὶ εἰπάτωσαν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν κύριος βασιλεύων

32βομβήσει ἡ θάλασσα σὺν τῷ πληρώματι καὶ ξύλον ἀγροῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐτῷ

33τότε εὐφρανθήσεται τὰ ξύλα τοῦ δρυμοῦ ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου ὅτι ἦλθεν κρῖναι τὴν γῆν

34ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ κυρίῳ ὅτι ἀγαθόν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ

35καὶ εἴπατε σῶσον ἡμᾶς ὁ θεὸς τῆς σωτηρίας ἡμῶν καὶ ἐξελοῦ ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῶν ἐθνῶν τοῦ αἰνεῖν τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιόν σου καὶ καυχᾶσθαι ἐν ταῖς αἰνέσεσίν σου

36εὐλογημένος κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἐρεῖ πᾶς ὁ λαός αμην καὶ ᾔνεσαν τῷ κυρίῳ

37καὶ κατέλιπον ἐκεῖ ἔναντι τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης κυρίου τὸν Ασαφ καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ τοῦ λειτουργεῖν ἐναντίον τῆς κιβωτοῦ διὰ παντὸς τὸ τῆς ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν

38καὶ Αβδεδομ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ ἑξήκοντα καὶ ὀκτώ καὶ Αβδεδομ υἱὸς Ιδιθων καὶ Οσσα εἰς πυλωρούς

39καὶ τὸν Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἐναντίον σκηνῆς κυρίου ἐν Βαμα τῇ ἐν Γαβαων

40τοῦ ἀναφέρειν ὁλοκαυτώματα τῷ κυρίῳ ἐπὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων διὰ παντὸς τὸ πρωὶ καὶ τὸ ἑσπέρας καὶ κατὰ πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν νόμῳ κυρίου ὅσα ἐνετείλατο ἐφ' υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ τοῦ θεράποντος τοῦ θεοῦ

41καὶ μετ' αὐτοῦ Αιμαν καὶ Ιδιθων καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ ἐκλεγέντες ἐπ' ὀνόματος τοῦ αἰνεῖν τὸν κύριον ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ

42καὶ μετ' αὐτῶν σάλπιγγες καὶ κύμβαλα τοῦ ἀναφωνεῖν καὶ ὄργανα τῶν ᾠδῶν τοῦ θεοῦ υἱοὶ Ιδιθων εἰς τὴν πύλην

43καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἅπας ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Δαυιδ τοῦ εὐλογῆσαι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ
