Tobit 13

1And Tobias the elder opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and said: Thou art great, O Lord, for ever, and thy kingdom is unto all ages:

2For thou scourgest, and thou savest: thou leadest down to hell, and bringest up again: and there is none that can escape thy hand.

3Give glory to the Lord, ye children of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the Gentiles:

4Because he hath therefore scattered you among the Gentiles, who know not him, that you may declare his wonderful works, and make them know that there is no other almighty God besides him.

5He hath chastised us for our iniquities: and he will save us for his own mercy.

6See then what he hath done with us, and with fear and trembling give ye glory to him: and extol the eternal King of worlds in your works.

7As for me, I will praise him in the land of my captivity: because he hath shown his majesty toward a sinful nation,

8Be converted therefore, ye sinners, and do justice before God, believing that he will show his mercy to you.

9And I and my soul will rejoice in him.

10Bless ye the Lord, all his elect, keep days of joy, and give glory to him.

11Jerusalem, city of God, the Lord hath chastised thee for the works of thy hands.

12Give glory to the Lord for thy good things, and bless the God eternal that he may rebuild his tabernacle in thee, and may call back all the captives to thee, and thou mayst rejoice for ever and ever.

13Thou shalt shine with a glorious light: and all the ends of the earth shall worship thee,

14Nations from afar shall come to thee: and shall bring gifts, and shall adore the Lord in thee, and shall esteem thy land as holy.

15For they shall call upon the great name in thee,

16They shall be cursed that shall despise thee: and they shall be condemned that shall blaspheme thee: and blessed shall they be that shall build thee up,

17But thou shalt rejoice in thy children, because they shall all be blessed, and shall be gathered together to the Lord.

18Blessed are all they that love thee, and that rejoice in thy peace,

19My soul, bless thou the Lord, because the Lord our God hath delivered Jerusalem his city from all her troubles.

20Happy shall I be if there shall remain of my seed, to see the glory of Jerusalem.

21The gates of Jerusalem shall be built of sapphire, and of emerald, and all the walls thereof round about of precious stones.

22All its streets shall be paved with white and clean stones: and Alleluia shall be sung in its streets,

23Blessed be the Lord, who hath exalted it, and may he reign over it for ever and ever, Amen.

1Aperiens autem Tobias senior os suum, benedixit Dominum, et dixit : Magnus es, Domine, in æternum, et in omnia sæcula regnum tuum :

2quoniam tu flagellas, et salvas; deducis ad inferos, et reducis : et non est qui effugiat manum tuam.

3Confitemini Domino, filii Israël, et in conspectu gentium laudate eum :

4quoniam ideo dispersit vos inter gentes quæ ignorant eum, ut vos enarretis mirabilia ejus, et faciatis scire eos quia non est alius deus omnipotens præter eum.

5Ipse castigavit nos propter iniquitates nostras, et ipse salvabit nos propter misericordiam suam.

6Aspicite ergo quæ fecit nobiscum, et cum timore et tremore confitemini illi : regemque sæculorum exaltate in operibus vestris.

7Ego autem in terra captivitatis meæ confitebor illi : quoniam ostendit majestatem suam in gentem peccatricem.

8Convertimini itaque peccatores, et facite justitiam coram Deo, credentes quod faciat vobiscum misericordiam suam.

9Ego autem et anima mea in eo lætabimur.

10Benedicite Dominum omnes electi ejus : agite dies lætitiæ, et confitemini illi.

11Jerusalem civitas Dei, castigavit te Dominus in operibus manuum tuarum.

12Confitere Domino in bonis tuis, et benedic Deum sæculorum : ut reædificet in te tabernaculum suum, et revocet ad te omnes captivos, et gaudeas in omnia sæcula sæculorum.

13Luce splendida fulgebis, et omnes fines terræ adorabunt te.

14Nationes ex longinquo ad te venient, et munera deferentes adorabunt in te Dominum, et terram tuam in sanctificationem habebunt :

15nomen enim magnum invocabunt in te.

16Maledicti erunt qui contempserint te, et condemnati erunt omnes qui blasphemaverint te : benedictique erunt qui ædificaverint te.

17Tu autem lætaberis in filiis tuis, quoniam omnes benedicentur, et congregabuntur ad Dominum.

18Beati omnes qui diligunt te, et qui gaudent super pace tua.

19Anima mea, benedic Dominum, quoniam liberavit Jerusalem civitatem suam a cunctis tribulationibus ejus Dominus Deus noster.

20Beatus ero si fuerint reliquiæ seminis mei ad videndam claritatem Jerusalem.

21Portæ Jerusalem ex sapphiro et smaragdo ædificabuntur, et ex lapide pretioso omnis circuitus murorum ejus.

22Ex lapide candido et mundo omnes plateæ ejus sternentur, et per vicos ejus alleluja cantabitur.

23Benedictus Dominus, qui exaltavit eam, et sit regnum ejus in sæcula sæculorum super eam. Amen.

1καὶ Τωβιτ ἔγραψεν προσευχὴν εἰς ἀγαλλίασιν καὶ εἶπεν

2εὐλογητὸς ὁ θεὸς ὁ ζῶν εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας καὶ ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ ὅτι αὐτὸς μαστιγοῖ καὶ ἐλεᾷ κατάγει εἰς ᾅδην καὶ ἀνάγει καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὃς ἐκφεύξεται τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ

3ἐξομολογεῖσθε αὐτῷ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν ὅτι αὐτὸς διέσπειρεν ἡμᾶς ἐν αὐτοῖς

4ἐκεῖ ὑποδείξατε τὴν μεγαλωσύνην αὐτοῦ ὑψοῦτε αὐτὸν ἐνώπιον παντὸς ζῶντος καθότι αὐτὸς κύριος ἡμῶν καὶ θεός αὐτὸς πατὴρ ἡμῶν εἰς πάντας τοὺς αἰῶνας

5καὶ μαστιγώσει ἡμᾶς ἐν ταῖς ἀδικίαις ἡμῶν καὶ πάλιν ἐλεήσει καὶ συνάξει ἡμᾶς ἐκ πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν οὗ ἐὰν σκορπισθῆτε ἐν αὐτοῖς

6ἐὰν ἐπιστρέψητε πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ ψυχῇ ποιῆσαι ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ ἀλήθειαν τότε ἐπιστρέψει πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐ μὴ κρύψῃ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀφ' ὑμῶν

7καὶ θεάσασθε ἃ ποιήσει μεθ' ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξομολογήσασθε αὐτῷ ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ στόματι ὑμῶν καὶ εὐλογήσατε τὸν κύριον τῆς δικαιοσύνης καὶ ὑψώσατε τὸν βασιλέα τῶν αἰώνων

8ἐγὼ ἐν τῇ γῇ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας μου ἐξομολογοῦμαι αὐτῷ καὶ δεικνύω τὴν ἰσχὺν καὶ τὴν μεγαλωσύνην αὐτοῦ ἔθνει ἁμαρτωλῶν ἐπιστρέψατε ἁμαρτωλοί καὶ ποιήσατε δικαιοσύνην ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ τίς γινώσκει εἰ θελήσει ὑμᾶς καὶ ποιήσει ἐλεημοσύνην ὑμῖν

9τὸν θεόν μου ὑψῶ καὶ ἡ ψυχή μου τὸν βασιλέα τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀγαλλιάσεται τὴν μεγαλωσύνην αὐτοῦ

10λεγέτωσαν πάντες καὶ ἐξομολογείσθωσαν αὐτῷ ἐν Ιεροσολύμοις Ιεροσόλυμα πόλις ἁγία μαστιγώσει ἐπὶ τὰ ἔργα τῶν υἱῶν σου καὶ πάλιν ἐλεήσει τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν δικαίων

11ἐξομολογοῦ τῷ κυρίῳ ἀγαθῶς καὶ εὐλόγει τὸν βασιλέα τῶν αἰώνων ἵνα πάλιν ἡ σκηνὴ αὐτοῦ οἰκοδομηθῇ σοι μετὰ χαρᾶς

12καὶ εὐφράναι ἐν σοὶ τοὺς αἰχμαλώτους καὶ ἀγαπήσαι ἐν σοὶ τοὺς ταλαιπώρους εἰς πάσας τὰς γενεὰς τοῦ αἰῶνος

13ἔθνη πολλὰ μακρόθεν ἥξει πρὸς τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ δῶρα ἐν χερσὶν ἔχοντες καὶ δῶρα τῷ βασιλεῖ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ γενεαὶ γενεῶν δώσουσίν σοι ἀγαλλίαμα

14ἐπικατάρατοι πάντες οἱ μισοῦντές σε εὐλογημένοι ἔσονται πάντες οἱ ἀγαπῶντές σε εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα

15χάρηθι καὶ ἀγαλλίασαι ἐπὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν δικαίων ὅτι συναχθήσονται καὶ εὐλογήσουσιν τὸν κύριον τῶν δικαίων ὦ μακάριοι οἱ ἀγαπῶντές σε χαρήσονται ἐπὶ τῇ εἰρήνῃ σου

16μακάριοι ὅσοι ἐλυπήθησαν ἐπὶ πάσαις ταῖς μάστιξίν σου ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ χαρήσονται θεασάμενοι πᾶσαν τὴν δόξαν σου καὶ εὐφρανθήσονται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἡ ψυχή μου εὐλογείτω τὸν θεὸν τὸν βασιλέα τὸν μέγαν

17ὅτι οἰκοδομηθήσεται Ιερουσαλημ σαπφείρῳ καὶ σμαράγδῳ καὶ λίθῳ ἐντίμῳ τὰ τείχη σου καὶ οἱ πύργοι καὶ οἱ προμαχῶνες ἐν χρυσίῳ καθαρῷ καὶ αἱ πλατεῖαι Ιερουσαλημ βηρύλλῳ καὶ ἄνθρακι καὶ λίθῳ ἐκ Σουφιρ ψηφολογηθήσονται

18καὶ ἐροῦσιν πᾶσαι αἱ ῥῦμαι αὐτῆς αλληλουια καὶ αἰνέσουσιν λέγοντες εὐλογητὸς ὁ θεός ὃς ὕψωσεν πάντας τοὺς αἰῶνας
