1 Chronicles 13

David consulted with the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and with all the commanders.

Iniit autem consilium David cum tribunis, et centurionibus, et universis principibus,

καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο Δαυιδ μετὰ τῶν χιλιάρχων καὶ τῶν ἑκατοντάρχων παντὶ ἡγουμένῳ

And he said to all the assembly of Israel: If it please you; and if the words which I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the rest of our brethren into all the countries of Israel, and to the priests, and the Levites, that dwell in the suburbs of the cities, to gather themselves to us,

et ait ad omnem cœtum Israël : Si placet vobis, et a Domino Deo nostro egreditur sermo quem loquor, mittamus ad fratres nostros reliquos in universas regiones Israël, et ad sacerdotes et Levitas qui habitant in suburbanis urbium, ut congregentur ad nos,

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυιδ τῇ πάσῃ ἐκκλησίᾳ Ισραηλ εἰ ἐφ' ὑμῖν ἀγαθὸν καὶ παρὰ κυρίου θεοῦ ἡμῶν εὐοδωθῇ ἀποστείλωμεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ἡμῶν τοὺς ὑπολελειμμένους ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Ισραηλ καὶ μετ' αὐτῶν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται ἐν πόλεσιν κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν καὶ συναχθήσονται πρὸς ἡμᾶς

And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought it not in the days of Saul.

et reducamus arcam Dei nostri ad nos : non enim requisivimus eam in diebus Saul.

καὶ μετενέγκωμεν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν πρὸς ἡμᾶς ὅτι οὐκ ἐζήτησαν αὐτὴν ἀφ' ἡμερῶν Σαουλ

And all the multitude answered that it should be so: for the word pleased all the people.

Et respondit universa multitudo ut ita fieret : placuerat enim sermo omni populo.

καὶ εἶπεν πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία τοῦ ποιῆσαι οὕτως ὅτι εὐθὴς ὁ λόγος ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ

So David assembled all Israel from Sihor of Egypt, even to the entering into Emath, to bring the ark of God from Cariathiarim.

Congregavit ergo David cunctum Israël, a Sihor Ægypti usque dum ingrediaris Emath, ut adduceret arcam Dei de Cariathiarim.

καὶ ἐξεκκλησίασεν Δαυιδ τὸν πάντα Ισραηλ ἀπὸ ὁρίων Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἕως εἰσόδου Ημαθ τοῦ εἰσενέγκαι τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐκ πόλεως Ιαριμ

And David went up with all the men of Israel to the hill of Cariathiarim which is in Juda, to bring thence the ark of the Lord God sitting upon the cherubims, where his name is called upon.

Et ascendit David, et omnis vir Israël, ad collem Cariathiarim, qui est in Juda, ut afferret inde arcam Domini Dei sedentis super cherubim, ubi invocatum est nomen ejus.

καὶ ἀνήγαγεν αὐτὴν Δαυιδ καὶ πᾶς Ισραηλ ἀνέβη εἰς πόλιν Δαυιδ ἣ ἦν τοῦ Ιουδα τοῦ ἀναγαγεῖν ἐκεῖθεν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ κυρίου καθημένου ἐπὶ χερουβιν οὗ ἐπεκλήθη ὄνομα αὐτοῦ

And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart out of the house of Abinadab. And Oza and his brother drove the cart.

Imposueruntque arcam Dei super plaustrum novum, de domo Abinadab : Oza autem, et frater ejus minabant plaustrum.

καὶ ἐπέθηκαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ ἅμαξαν καινὴν ἐξ οἴκου Αμιναδαβ καὶ Οζα καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ ἦγον τὴν ἅμαξαν

And David and all Israel played before God with all their might with hymns, and with harps, and with psalteries, and timbrels, and cymbals, and trumpets,

Porro David, et universus Israël, ludebant coram Deo omni virtute in canticis, et in citharis, et psalteriis, et tympanis, et cymbalis, et tubis.

καὶ Δαυιδ καὶ πᾶς Ισραηλ παίζοντες ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν πάσῃ δυνάμει καὶ ἐν ψαλτῳδοῖς καὶ ἐν κινύραις καὶ ἐν νάβλαις ἐν τυμπάνοις καὶ ἐν κυμβάλοις καὶ ἐν σάλπιγξιν

And when they came to the floor of Chidon, Oza put forth his hand, to hold up the ark: for the ox being wanton had made it lean a little on one side.

Cum autem pervenisset ad aream Chidon, tetendit Oza manum suam, ut sustentaret arcam : bos quippe lasciviens paululum inclinaverat eam.

καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἕως τῆς ἅλωνος καὶ ἐξέτεινεν Οζα τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ τοῦ κατασχεῖν τὴν κιβωτόν ὅτι ἐξέκλινεν αὐτὴν ὁ μόσχος

And the Lord was angry with Oza, and struck him, because he had touched the ark; and he died there before the Lord.

Iratus est itaque Dominus contra Ozam, et percussit eum, eo quod tetigisset arcam : et mortuus est ibi coram Domino.

καὶ ἐθυμώθη ὀργῇ κύριος ἐπὶ Οζα καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ διὰ τὸ ἐκτεῖναι τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν κιβωτόν καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκεῖ ἀπέναντι τοῦ θεοῦ

And David was troubled because the Lord had divided Oza: and he called that place the Breach of Oza to this day.

Contristatusque est David, eo quod divisisset Dominus Ozam : vocavitque locum illum Divisio Ozæ, usque in præsentem diem.

καὶ ἠθύμησεν Δαυιδ ὅτι διέκοψεν κύριος διακοπὴν ἐν Οζα καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν τόπον ἐκεῖνον Διακοπὴ Οζα ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης

And he feared God at that time, saying: How can I bring in the ark of God to me?

Et timuit Deum tunc temporis, dicens : Quomodo possum ad me introducere arcam Dei?

καὶ ἐφοβήθη Δαυιδ τὸν θεὸν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ λέγων πῶς εἰσοίσω πρὸς ἐμαυτὸν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ

And therefore he brought it not home to himself, that is, into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gethite.

et ob hanc causam non adduxit eam ad se, hoc est, in civitatem David, sed avertit in domum Obededom Gethæi.

καὶ οὐκ ἀπέστρεψεν Δαυιδ τὴν κιβωτὸν πρὸς ἑαυτὸν εἰς πόλιν Δαυιδ καὶ ἐξέκλινεν αὐτὴν εἰς οἶκον Αβεδδαρα τοῦ Γεθθαίου

And the ark of God remained in the house of Obededom three months: and the Lord blessed his house, and all that he had.

Mansit ergo arca Dei in domo Obededom tribus mensibus : et benedixit Dominus domui ejus, et omnibus quæ habebat.

καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἡ κιβωτὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν οἴκῳ Αβεδδαρα τρεῖς μῆνας καὶ εὐλόγησεν ὁ θεὸς Αβεδδαραμ καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ
